Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboro, Alabama. Ever wonder where all that unclaimed luggage winds up when the airlines cannot find the rightful owners? Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro, Alabama is where it goes. The baggage center purchases unclaimed baggage by the cargo load, launders and dry cleans and repairs all clothing and then makes it available for sale to the public. It's not just suitcases that are for sale -- it's the contents, too.
My mother and I headed out last weekend for a spur of the moment trip to Scottsboro Alabama to the Unclaimed Baggage store.
I was on a hunt for a turquoise ring. Turquoise ...my weakness. And last trip up I got such a deal on one. I found one from a designer in Arizona whose rings retail for about $300.00. I paid $40. I was thrilled.
Alas this trip, I didn't find any turquoise pieces, but I did find a "western style" ring as well as some costume pieces.
I love a statement ring....
(Click for a larger view)
This one below actually came from AT HOME in Homewood yesterday but I thought I would share in this post too. Its a birds next with seed pearl eggs. $11
Here is a better view of that Western ring I found. It does have the name of a designer on the back, but it is hard to read. It appears to have been sized smalled and the sauntering had covered part of the name.
This Nautilus ring has a dragon fly on the side. Reminds me of the beach in the fall. As I walk the beach or the park, there are hundreds of dragonflys ready to migrate. It retails for $79.99. I paid $20
I found this pretty tunic top in a neutral geographic print. I plan to belt it since it has a boxy shape and wear it with slacks, jeggings or jeans paired with heels or boots. Just fun and verstile!
This was one of my most favorite finds.
If you have read my blog for a lengthy time you probably know that I love all kinds of things.
Jimmy Buffet. Hair Bands. The Beach. Southern Cooking. Travel. And ...roller derby.
More so....
I want to be a derby girl.
Which my husband likes to point out, an "over 40 derby girl".
He says he is not willing to pay the doctor bills that would certainly come with the title of Derby Queen.
And so, I just pretend like I am one every time I put on my skates.
I am trying to be real diligent in my exercise program and thought some cute workout clothes would be a good motivator.
Well, I didn't find any. But I did find this perfect hoodie to wear while walking/jogging and to my zumba classes....
Oh! Such a fun day shopping with mom in the picturesce Scottsboro.
We did get a late start in our day so we ended up calling up a cousin and asked her is she could house us couple of gypsy's.
She was happy to do so. Family is good like that.
After spending the night at my cousins house, we got up early and refreshed. She mentioned that there was a catholic church nearby having a tag sale. Mom and I agreed we would stop by before heading home. I picked up a couple things for dirt cheap.
One was this sweet little Christmas tree. I felt guilty buying it because I have really been a "get rid of crap" mood lately. I have called the Donation truck to my home for the past 3 weeks and donate large amounts of items.
But this little tree called to me with its vinateg charm....
Soft plastic type material branches and colorful balls that are attached to the tree.
The tree was created on a sort of cardboard cone. The balls and little lights are affixed to the cardboard. It is made to put a lighted low watt bulb underneath.
And just look at the date!
The tree cost me all of twenty five cents. How could I have left it behind? I couldn't! I can't wait to use it in future holiday decorating!
Finally, this sweet little Indian girl print in antique frame...
Look at her sweet little face and features. And she too....twenty five cents.
