Onto Thirfty Thursday....
Thrifting isn't always about what you buy. If I kept all that I bought and didn't ever purge, I would be a horder. No, thrifting is also about reinvention, rethinking a piece other than it's intended purpose, expanding your creativity and thinking outside the box. Like with the burlap sacks that Swampgirl sent to me. (Thank you all for the wonderful ideas, BTW, I will be sharing with you all at some point the ways in which I am using them).
Although today, this Thrifty Thursday, I am giving back to my local thrift store. I love decor magazines, almost to much. I went through so many magazines last weekend and am ready to donate them back to my Thrift. Before I did though, I combed through the magazines and got final ideas for my decorating notebook. I started mine back in 1993. Of course my taste have changed since then and I have kept some ideas, while I have tossed others. I used prepunched pages with plastic pockets to store my photos.

Today I also have a folder on my computer of inspiration photos taken from many of you. I like to refer back to those pictures and "expand creativity" in my own home. My photo inpiration has come from magazines, homes of friends, open houses, showhouses. Today it includes bloggers beautiful home ideas.
Below are some of my saved ideas from different places that I wanted to share with you. It's ways to repurpose those thrifty things:

Country Living
Sort old postcards and photographs by using a weathered old window frame. Crisscross twine and tuck in  family photos, recipes, postcards and memoribilia.

Frame covers of old tattered books. You can color copy and enlarge pages from the books to use as the mats. Mount on foamboard. Hot glue the book covers to the mat, then frame them using old floor grates as the frames!

Shop thrift stores for a side table that needs sprucing up. Use old vintage wooden rulers to make the tabletop interesting. Use a circular saw for a precise cut and then glue onto the tabletop with wood glue.

Southern Living
I loved this idea that I saw in a recent Southern Living magazine and stole it myself.

I love to use things in my home with a story, I love that sentimentality. I am planning to use a  letter was one that was sent to my Grandmother from my Grandfather. I will take the letter to a photo copy store and have them enlarge the letter on paper.  I purchased a cheap frame at the thrift store for six bucks. Now I will have personalized artwork that pops and has sentiment. That I love!

I have really seperated myself from fake flowers, but this is an idea that I can appreciate. My friend Pat used sticks and faux fall leaves placed in an urn to decorate for fall. Might I recommend, use real sticks from the yard. Purchase the fall leaves at Dollar Tree. Cut leaves from the strand it comes on and hot glue to the sticks for a more realistic look.

Going back again those those burlap sacks, I saw this idea on http://www.houzz.com/ yesterday. Love it!

For my tablescape today I am sharing more ideas, these from Better Homes and Gardens. I loved this tablescape, which is also very inexpensive using things that can be found at the Dollar Tree, Party City and even Walmart. My favorite idea? Using plastic spider rings as wine rings!

I'm so glad you said that "Thrifting isn't always about what you buy" because I'm cutting back on my buying but I will have a great Thrifty post next Thursday on rethinking a piece other than it's intended purpose.

Have a blessed day!!

Hi Leigh,
I'm early today! Does that make up for all the times I barely made it?

Great post! Love that post card idea. Have you ever visited Gwen at Murphy Grace Home? She's been doing a lot of burlap sack projects as her guy brought home a bunch of burlap coffee sacks.
Have a great Thursday!
Hugs,
Dawn

I have a pile of magazines that I can't part with because I like the inspiration they provide.

I really like the window frame with twine. I never would have thought of that!

These are some great ideas. I keep a folder of all kinds of decorating and crafting ideas as well.

I really like the tablescape as well. Still pretty and simple but halloweenish without going oerboard.

This is my first time joining in on your Linky Party! I linked up to my Master Bedroom Makeover because we shopped our house, did some creative rearranging and, most importantly, didn't buy a thing for our "new" room! I figured it certainly qualified as "thrifty"! :)

By the way, LOVE the first two photos in your post! I have those pages from the original magazine in my idea file! :)

I enjoyed reading some of your magazine tear sheet ideas. It is such a good idea to collect the things that speak to our hearts. It kind of gives a personality to our souls.

Isn't that a great idea with the rulers? You include some wonderful suggestions. I enjoyed my visit.

I love many thousands of things each day, I swear. I used to try to buy everything that I loved and I became consumed with clutter (because nothing could be displayed because I had too much) that's when I learned how to photograph what I liked and not buy any of it LOL

Thanks for the lovely finds from your magaziines - I really like the postcard enlargement. I've been wanting to do that but haven't found the right card yet. I'm so glad that you have something in the works ready to go!

I linked to TT today although I didn't participate. Hopefully someone coming to my place will find your place!
