We Went to the Chapel

We had a wonderful trip to Indianapolis this past weekend. Sledge had the honor of serving as the flower girl in our cousin Julie wedding to her husband Steve. Sledge took the job very seriously and did a wonderful job of walking down the aisle with her little cousin, a year old, who was nephew to the bride.

The wedding was gorgeous. The weather windy and cool but sunny. The buds were just blooming on the trees and by all accounts spring was in full swing. It was a beautiful day, in many ways. We think alot of our family in Indiana and are always as thrilled to spend time with them. On our trip we were able to see Big Daddy's grandparents too. We had a wonderful visit at the grandparents.

Friday evening was the rehearsal and dinner at the Westin. The meal was delicious, served buffet style. On the buffet was Italian sausage pasta, chicken, cheese tortellini in a wine sauce with sweet peas, Cesar salad, marinated pesto mozzarella and tomatoes, seasoned vegetables, bread sticks and foccacia with tomato and buffalo mozzarella. Dessert was taramisu, 2 kinds of cheesecake, canoli, and a chocolate fountain with marshmallows, pretzels, pineapple, strawberries, bananas, cookies, and pound cake for dipping. The meal was wonderful.

Julie and Steve had some very kind words to say to those participating. Julie gave Sledge a gift of a silver frame and monogrammed makeup bag. It was very kind.

Saturday was very busy. The wedding began at 2:30PM, though we got up at 7 AM to prepare for the day. The wedding was gorgeous, and in perfect taste. I have never seen Julie look more beautiful. We also think alot of her new husband Steve. He is a perfect fit for Julie and for this family and has seemed as "one of us" from the moment we met him.

Following the wedding was an appetizer and drink mingling. There was an open bar with appetizers of chicken fingers, brushetta and mini three cheese and vegetable casadea's. A sit down supper followed with a DJ and dancing. I got to chat with Aunt Carol's brother Chuck, who has a nice folk album out. He did a wonderful job with a musical selection during the wedding. He has a nice peaceful voice. I posted about it sometime back. He is currently recording a country album. He was so kind and gave me a little "gift"... http://www.chuckpotthast.com/

I also got to meet Julie's friend Amy, She is the one that backpacked all over-and I lived vicariously through her travel blog. When I saw her at the rehearsal dinner, I thought that I knew her from somewhere. Finally I figured it out-her blog. AMAZING! I am really a bit obsessed with her blog. Even now, I go back and read and dream and download pics for my screen savers. http://www.freewebs.com/amtrick/ Wow. Amy was a sweetheart and I was happy to meet her.

We had a lovely visit. For more on our visit, see pics and stories below.
