100 Places to Eat Before you Die in Alabama

I have touted it and touted it. And my dog earred brouchure that I keep in the glovebox of my car is proof. I hope you have one whether you live in Alabama or plan to drive through. I am talking about the foods that are all listed in the Alabama Tourism Bureau's brochure, "100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die."
Go to http://www.800alabama.com/ , click on the "Year of Alabama Food" icon, and then click on the top link to download the brochure. You can also call 1-800-Alabama to request a free brochure. It'll come in handy whenever you're traveling here. But I am still going to go ahead and share so you can begin eating your way across the state.....

100 must-try state dishes (updated -from Al.com)

"It's been two years and people are still holding tight to copies of "100 dishes to eat in Alabama before you die."
It's been so popular, in fact, that there's a new edition of this brochure available now. Call 800-ALABAMA (800-252-2262) and a copy will be sent to you.
A few restaurants have closed since the first brochure came out, which made room for including others; still other restaurants were cited for dishes other than the ones originally featured.
Russell Nolen, art director for the Alabama Bureau of Tourism & Travel, did the layout for the new brochure, and he pointed out the newcomers to the list. Are there more than 100? Who's counting? "

I've visited lots of these places....especially the ones in Auburn (ah, the glory days). Jessie's Cafe in Albertville is my weekly date with my grandmother and mother. They must have the white chicken chili and it is only served on Tuesday. You'll find me there every Tuesday at 11...you have to get there early if you want some:) Enjoyed this post.

I've been to at least 3 of the ones in Dothan and to "Sisters" in Troy. Don't recall if had any of the dishes listed.

I'll be Dothan in two weeks so maybe I'll try em.

I live close to Scottsboro, and I can tell you... Mud Creek's catfish ain't the only reason to eat there, and an even better reason to visit Payne's is for the AMAZING chocolate and strawberry malts.

Carlile's tomato pie is so popular, they actually ran the recipe in the local paper a while back. Tasty stuff, that.

Diamond Jims in Livingston has to be added to this list. Somewhere close to top.
