Port of Call: Cozumel

We arrived in Cozumel on Tuesday, Sept. 28th . We got off of the ship and had a little time to do some shopping in the market.

Afterwards we met our guide, Juan who informed us that our excursion had been canceled.

He recommended another to us,The Beach Buggy @ Punta Sur. We were adamant on snorkeling and Juan said that was one of the best spots in Cozumel. French explorer Jacques Cousteau proclaimed the area's waters one of the most spectacular scuba diving sites in the world. I believe that God had a hand in picking our excursion. It was all we could've ever wanted and more.
We began by driving a beach buggy 40 minutes to Punta Sur.Big Daddy drove our family, while my mom and MIL  turns in another, aka: Thelma &  Louise.

The drive was amazing...an excursion within itself....picture perfect postcard beauty!

We made stops along the way: we saw wild crocs:

We visited a 1,200 year old Mayan Ruin (their lighthouse, it was used in navigation)

and we climbed the 133 steps to the very top of Celarain Lighthouse for a birds eye view of the island.

At the end of the road was a secluded stretch of beach with snow white powder fine sand and a marine park that made for a perfect snorkel excursion.

My mother and J Smooth stayed back and enjoyed games of beach volley and the view, while me, Big Daddy, Sister Sledge and my MIL  swam out into the depths of the blue (a/b 10 feet) to what seemed as though we had been dropped into a salt water aquarium.

We saw two sea turtles, swam through a sea fan forest, and fish that were decorated in the most beautiful florescent colors and patterns. I even saw a yellow starfish as big as a coffee table! I would've never guessed they came in a size so big!

After swimming back to shore we all enjoyed a Mexican buffet underneath a grand tiki!!!

Cozumel was the adventure of a lifetime!

But one I will do again and again.
For I left a piece of myself there.

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!
Join me tomorrow for Thrifty Thursday.

Wow- those vibrant colors!
A couple of the photos did not show for me so I'll be back to check again.
I don't think I want to be that close to a croc, wild or of any type!

Cozumel is one of our favorite vacation spots. We just returned from our 8th trip there! It is one of the best places I've been for scuba diving.
