Great Place to People Watch: The ER, Parties & (Blog) Carnivals!+MLK

As it ended up, on Friday morning, between the hours 2AM-8AM, my youngest son, "J Smooth" did have a stint in the ER. Praise God, all is ok. Chalk it up to "severe plumbing issues", nothing that "roto rooter in the form of a pill" cannot handle.  Bless his heart...and tummy. Alas, it has taken me some time to recover as well, from being up all night. Therefore I was so late in getting around to everyone who linked up to Thrifty Thursdayl ast week. My apologies for not being more prompt, but I did eventually get around to see everyone's thrifty Thursday post!!

Regarding the participants, we had just shy of 50 participants last week! Now that's a party! You might want to go back and visit the ones you may not have gotten to. We had some new friends join in this week. I always want everyone to feel welcome.

As I mentioned, I was late in getting to everyone so my Friday post didn't feature as many great ideas as I would've liked. I did want to show you three more than really stood out.
For example,Jane at Finding Fabulous's farm table.

There is a wonderful story with her family history attached. If you missed it, you will want to read all about it!!!

Several of you featured some thrifty homemade wreaths this week-so many that are perfect for upcoming Valentine's day. Though all could be customized for any occassion. One of my favorite wreaths (though I loved them all) was made of burlap. Have I mentioned that I adore burlap? LOL
The Gaines Gang created this wreath that was so simple, even I can do it. And I am. I just have to go shopping for the red burlap and a wreath similar to this one (below) will also grace my home's front door.

And my sweet friend, Lisa from Pickles and Cheese created this Ballards inspired bucket that can be created from a basic can. The Ballards design cost $49.00

Think popcorn tin + style. I know.  I know. Its an oxymoron of a statement, But really, it is a clever sylish form of storage! Check out how to create it by going to Lisa's blog!

Aside from the exciting trip to the ER Friday morning -
(where BTW, it's a great place to people watch, especially at those early hours)
We had a full weekend in the house of Funky Town.
I wanted to mention on my Friday post last week about my evening spent at my  friend Jessica's house. Jessica is also a blogger, which is how we initially met. Jessica is the author of Thoughts of a Bama Belle.
I love when blog friendhsips form into real life ones! What a blessing!
The same can be said for Laura Beth, another blogger and guest at Jessica's party. Laura Beth is the author of Rumifications of a Working Mom.
My friend Zinnia, Warrior Princess came with me. It was a fun girls "jewelry" night (it was a jewelry party).
Jessica has a flair with entertaining. It's a gift really, where she creates an atmoshere of celebration and making her guest feel special. I wanted to share these pictures from the fun evening.

I came home with some new bling and a bigger belly. Drats!

Finally, I don't want to close without mentioning MLK Day. Brad Paisey has a song out currently called "Welcome to the Future". The last verse in the song is this:

And really, it wasn't to long ago that ones color drew lines in every sense of the word. As an American, I am so proud of where we are today. And I am proud of the direction we are going. Dr. King was an example for anyone.... an example that anyone who believes in something (and themselves for that matter) with such passion has the ability to make a change in the course of history.
And it began with a dream.
One person.
One voice.
With a dream.
It proves the argument, Never say never!
And never give up for something you believe in!
