Today I am sharing my Silver flatware collection. These are odd pieces, all were picked up at antique stores, garage sales, some were gifts from friends and family. Each one holds a story for me.
I keep them in an old caning jar atop the piece that I purchased from my friend Diva.
All of the flatware pieces are unique. I like pieces that are a bit different. And of course I go wild when I can find any engraved with the letter "B". But the inscriptions are not limited to "B".
You might recall the story that I created about Grace and the silver spoons. Click here to jog your memory
Many also feature a bird motiff. I have a thing for birds too. There is also a couple enscribed with Hotel names as well as names of former owners, and unique designs.
I so appreciate you dropping by Tales from Bloggeritaville.
Hugs!

Hi Leigh
Love the flatware, they are each so unique and interesting. I must admit i don't mind non matching.. to me it adds to the character although i was lucky enough to find some that matched my existing pieces...Julie
What a fun thing to collect! I like the way you have it displayed too!
Hi Leigh,
Such a clever & stylish way to display mismatched silverware.
Have a great SS.

I have been collecting silver flatware for many years. I have some beautiful coin silver, old sterling pieces and I have a huge collection of silverplate flatware from the early 1900s through the 1950s. Just yesterday I spent several hours on line identifying some flatware patterns. I use mine for everyday and keep them in a sweet flower pot that sits on my counter. I love the patina of old silver and if you use it often, it just gets more beautiful!
Hi Leigh!! Oh how pretty your silverware is! Looks like you have some really pretty patterns. I love old silver too!
How are you doing? I've missed you! Thanks for coming to see me and your comments on my preposts!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I don't have any silverware but am on the lookout for some....My Granny had some big serving spoons that had that beautiful cloudy look (she was a practical woman and not a silver polisher) and they came in sacks of flour...they were beautiful and I would love to have at least one of them. I like your display with the differant styles.
Hi Leigh,
I love the silverware in the canning jar. It really makes for a beautiful display. The pieces are all so unique, it's a very fun collection. Now I'm going to be on the lookout for pieces engraved with a "B".

How wonderful to have so many beautiful spoons. They would be fabulous for a tea party!
Your silver is beautiful. I am sorry to hear about your trip to the ER. You didn't say, but I hope your son is much better. Will keep him and your family in my prayers. Pat.
Your silver is so beautiful! Each piece is like a mini work of art!
Leigh, nice collection of silver...love all the different patterns.
Hi Leigh!
I love all the old mix and match pieces! They have so much character!
have a wonderful day!
Leigh... this post made me smile... I too have a canning jar full of odds and ends of silver... it makes me smile everytime I look at it..remember my little treasure hunts with friends and family that led me to each piece...
yours are lovely... I don't have too many with a "D" but I do keep looking...
hugs and blessings. Dixie

I love the juxtaposition of the elegant, fancy silver in the utilitarian glass canning jar. Looks great!
Love your silverware!!!
All unique & pretty.
LOVING your silver...and the amazing way you captured it!
Leigh -- this is so pretty -- but then you know my attraction to most anything vintage -- I hope your ER visit ended up well!
What a fun thing to collect.
I love the collection all gathered in the glass jar. They pair perfectly! And I will totally keep my eyes peeled for a B!! I love sorting through old silver and love a good project. I went antiquing with my mom today (for the vessel sink stand) and found an old silver Art Deco pin with her initials...HS! We couldn't believe our luck (or the price...only $15, and priceless to her.). I was sifting through old silver flatware all day today...and enjoyed every minute of it. :-) No purchases for me today, though was tempted by a turned handle butter knife.
great spoon! it looks like you have some really beautiful ones, i love spoon collections!
Leigh I just love the silerware, I am always on the lookout but never have any luck. Thanks for sharing!
Various pieces of silver in one grouping make me think of my aunt. She collected silver pieces from estate sales for years.
I hope that you've had a great weekend Leigh.
I can remember my grandma and mom collecting spoons etc. where ever we travel. They are so fun to look back at now.
Thanks for stopping by my blog...i'm flattered.
My grandmother has one of the most beautiful collections like that! I love it! Thanks for stopping by today! I am glad to hear everything is ok with your son!!!
Leigh, what a great group of flatware. I wanted to pull each one out and get a closer look. Love all the detail on these little works of art. Hope you'll share more next week....Sarah
What a great idea. I love antique silverware and I used to have a boatload of it, but I sold them at my auction a few years back. Antique silver is something you can always find, so I was OK with selling what I had lol (barely!)
