It's #31 of Thrifty Thursday! Hi! I am your host, Leigh. Thank you so much for stopping by and additional thanks to those who also participate in Thrifty Thursday! I am most delighted to have you join in..for it's YOU who makes it a "show and tell party".
I also participate in Tablescape Thursday the host of that fun carnival is the Hostess with the Mostess...Susan of Between Naps on the Backporch. That's no lie or exaggeration, each week I visit Susan's porch and just long to be a guest at any of her tablescapes...especially those held on the porch.

Now onto Thrifty Thursday....

I made a trip to the thrift store on Monday night. I have found that in my area, for me the best time to go is early in the morning (when it opens at 8AM) or late at night (I go around 7 or 8, it closes at 9:30 PM). And the best time to visit is mid week, when things are not picked over from the weekend. Weekends are brutal at and on the thrift. My mom would say "You can't stir them with a stick"...and so you will not find Leigh there. I do not like big crowds.

...Anyway, back to my thrifty find. I was shopping around and came across this cute sea biscuit bowl with lid.

I just thought is was so pretty.

It is made my Franciscan, a company which I am unfamiliar with.

Maybe I can use it in a future tablescape. And for 99 cents, a bargain!

Another little something I found that I can use in a tablescape are these three little bowls.

Made by Gibson, they were 79 cents each. I love how the sides are "wavy" and dotted.

I only wish that I had found them before I had made my tablescape photo for this week.
(White Tablescape).

Which brings me to......

For the Tablescape Thursday today, I am using my actual Let There be White (Host, Kathleen.) for my Tablescape Thursday that is hosted by Susan of Between Naps on the Porch..
"Do you follow me?" (wink to my "girls") I decided to do a double post on this one.
To see my white tablescape, please click here.
I did, however promise to share the tablescape from the birthday get together. It was a poolside, Soiree (don't you love to say, soiree...sounds so dignified and cultured. Not that the Clematis club is all that. I woul define as f-u-n)) and the buffet table and cake reflected the poolside fun.

I wish I had taken the photo when all of the food was sitting out. We had quite a feast!

Thanks ladies for the pool festivities. Love y'all!

I want to make mention on something exciting. Flea Market Style. Its a new blog, and a new magazine! And until Sunday , to promote things, they are hosting a giveaway on their blog. All you have to do is leave a comment to enter. A lucky winner will win a great vintage wire shopping cart with a handmade liner (made from a recycled coffee sack trimmed with vintage fabric, four grommets with cotton cord to tie to the cart) to fill with glorious bounty.Perfect to haul all your thrifty Thursday purchases. Sweet! Be on the lookout for the new magazine too. I cannot wait!

I invite you to visit my food & recipe blog, Plates and Places for Foodie Friday's and on Tuesday's for Southern Staples. I finally posted my mother's Potato Au Gratin Recipe (Thanks Jenny Moon, for the reminder. Smile;) and my families Five Generation Cornbread Recipe on there as well. You'll love me because they are both sooo good. You'll hate me because they are soooo good. UmmHmm.

I invite you to come back tomorrow, where we are counting chickens. Sort of. I am linking up to The Rooster party at Barbs Good Life. I don't have to many roosters, but I will show ya what I've got...and even something to sell.

No, it will not make for Sunday supper.

Thanks to all of you for stopping by and participating in today's Thrifty Thursday. Please use Mr. Linky below to link up your blog.I encourage you all to spread the love and visit the other thrifty Thursday participants, for that's what half the fun is. Aside from seeing a cool treasure it's making friends! Thanks Y'all!LOVE!

Franciscan is really well know among some collectors. I think that they opened in the 30's. Maybe I see more of it because they were based here in California.

Those little bowls are so cute! You are right, the lines and the little dots make them special!

Love the bowls, great finds!!!

Love the color of that first bowl. What did you call it, a sea biscuit bowl? Is that a type of sea shell? California isn't all beach, I know a starfish from a sand dollar but that's about it. LOL!

I'll try to get a thrifty post up tomorrow. It's been a heck of a day!

Hey Leigh! I realized that I should link my post up about the treadle to TT - so I did. AND then I noticed that you had already commented while I was editing LOL Thanks for stopping by.

Love the sea biscuit!! That is so cute. Soiree really has such a cool ring to it :)

Thanks so much for the tips on what to do in and around Gulf Shores. You are such a doll.

Leigh, when we lived in GA years ago mom had a set of Franciscanware. She loved it, Dad apparently sold it while loading the truck to move and she was incredibly upset...the fruit pattern. I've seen a number of patterns by them since then but I have NEVER seen it anywhere and I can't afford to replace it for her at Replacements.com. But I'm still looking!

I actually have a blog post up in time! I'm getting back in the swing of things. :-)

Thanks for your lovely comment (as always!). I did have a great time at the bazaar this weekend! I would love to be able to sell my pillows and such...my sewing skills are very (VERY!) new so I don't think I'm 100% there yet. But practice will (hopefully) make (close to) perfect.

p.s. how could I leave a comment without mentioning your thrifty finds?! I love those bowls. And I definitely would have bought that sea biscuit without a second thought! Nice work. :-)

You have a REALLY good eye. I never would have realized that the bowl was a sea biscuit. Now that you mention it... OF COURSE it is! I have a few pieces of Fitz and Floyd in a shell theme. I haven't used them (I just don't entertain much). They remind me of your shell bowl on the below post (love that and the mother of pearl handled servers).

I miss you too Leigh. I hope that Bama is doing well and that everyone else has gotten into their routine easily. I'm still coming through in September. Maybe we can visit then?

Hi Leigh - As always, thanks for the nice comments you left for me. I love the white bowls you found and only 79 cents makes it even better. Loved your birthday cake!! I'm going to check out your food blog. I'm not much of a cook but I'm always willing to try a new recipe. Have a great Thursday!

Love the cute bowls!!! And I just found out about the upcoming magazine. Glad these guys got together once again to replace all the mags that have quit publishing in the last year... :-( thanks again for giving us thrifty gals a place to share super deals and inspire others.

Sorry about my double entry to Thrifty Thursday. I am new to this and obviously did it wrong. Also, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the code for your button.

Thanks

I love that dish that you're calling a sea biscuit (which I'd probably call a sea urchin) and I've never seen anything like it ever before.
