Something Funky in Mississippi

On Friday my friends, Diva, High Mae, the Boss, Terminator and I, went to Mississippi for yet another phase in the clean out of Diva's mother's home. If you missed that story, you can catch up here on the 200 year old home that Diva grew up in. It is quite an amazing home. In the clean out we have certainly felt the presence of the homes previous occupants. One example would be lights mysteriously flicking off and on. Some might say it is "an old home with old wiring" but if you were actually in the home, I would challenge anyone to that story. My friend, Terminator will not go in the house alone. We have had to many crazy things happen.

After we (5 ladies, mind you) loaded up three vans with armories, china cabinets, desk, chairs, and tables (in just three hours!) we worked up quite an appetite so we headed to Crescent City Grill for a Cajun fix. I tried something new, the potato soup which was the daily special. It was delicious!!
Before we headed back to "the Ham" (Birmingham) we stopped by the Funky Monkey, which is one of Diva's favorite stores.
If you will recall, it is where she ordered our beach bags last year for the annual Girls Getaway (which incidentally will be here next month! I cannot wait!!).
The Funky Monkey is a great little gift store...with great accessories (like purses, key fobs, jewelry...to name just a few items):
As well as home decor:

clothing:

Baby/Children's items:

and more:
as colorful and unique as the store itself.
It's one that cannot be missed-physically with it's funky black and white polka dot awnings-and literally with it's treasure trove of goodies. It didn't take long for members of the "Clematis Club" to find some bargains that they couldn't live without.
Here's betting you will to! If you want to visit the Funky Monkey it is located in Meridan Mississippi:

It's a must if you are ever in the area.

The polka dots are fabulous! I would totally have to stop if I was driving by.

You all only took three hours to load up the vehicles - goodness, you all are a whirlwind. It would have taken me three hours, just to stop reminiscing about whatever was in front of me. haha

GOTTA LOVE THE MYSTERIES THAT LIE IN THE DEEP SOUTH! When I was attending USM we LIVED at Crescent City! Tell me you had the cheese sticks. They are like NONE other. I had never had them before my first CC experience and I have yet to have them other then there! They are beer battered and triangle shaped. I used to order those with the Caesar salad for a meal!Oh how you have made me long to go and visit our family in Hattiesburg to head to CC! See you soon!
