Waffle House and A Whole Lotta Love

I am sooo overdue with my post. I accidentally left my camera in my mothers car last week. I didn't get it back until today. I had some photographs on my camera that I wanted to share.
Last week I was invited to "Friends and Family day" a "closed" opening of the Calera Waffle House. It was one of the best breakfast I have had in a long time. Generally I am not a breakfast eater, but as I dug into my pecan waffle I asked myself...why? This is what I've been missing.
(The the swimsuit issue came up and I remembered...)
If you live locally, you really MUST check out the newly opened Calera Waffle House. Ask for Calvin, he IS the master. Guaranteed you will have one of the most wonderful breakfast of your life. Of course, Waffle House has a full menu so if breakfast is not what you are "hankering" then there are also some delectable lunch and supper selections that I bet will strike your fancy.
And, because I am a germaphob, I have to say that this is the cleanest Waffle House I have ever set foot in. And there is no smoking, which I like. As one who likes to eat, for me smelling is just part of the experience of eating. When you are in a smoke filled restaurant, the meal (for me at least) looses it's appeal.
My sincere Thanks to Cousin Jennifer and Calvin for the invitation and for the delicious and hearty breakfast. It was incredible....in fact I have dreamed about it every night since. I think I am in love. With a waffle. Knowing my Big Daddy, I think he will understand.
I do not know the address of the location, but it is directly across from the Wal-mart on Highway 31. (Cousin Jennifer, if you know, please put in under the comments)

I recently went out on a photography trek. I was hunting some good trees (I have mentioned my affinity for trees and doors....). I came upon the neatest thing....this lake with so many swans in it. Not just one or two, but many couples. While it wasn't the scene from The Notebook, there had to have been about 25 swans among the lake. All free. It was a site to see. A spiritual experience, really. Just there in the wild, for me to see. I love things like that!
When I began snapping photos, they all took flight and came flying at me. It was an amazing site. There was alot of, uh, "courting" but since this is a "family friendly" blog, I spared those photos and thought I would share these two of one particular "lovey -dovey" couple.

I also got my trees, which were much more cooperative than the swans.
We have a busy weekend ahead....tournaments, a bridal shower and a birthday. And I hear there is a Super Bowl to take place sometime....kidding. I know all about it. If you are looking for something to prepare for Superbowl snacking, be sure to check out Big Daddy's own (stolen...I mean, snagged) recipe for jerk seasoning over at my recipe blog, Plates and Places.
So? Who are you rooting for to win?
Have a wonderful weekend y'all! Be safe!

The picture of the Waffle in your slide show made my mouth water. Gosh that looks GOOD! I am a FAN of Waffle House.

I imagine you had to work your tail off for it but the photo of the swans and the heart shape was AWESOME. Great pictures all!

Girl....you are hilarious about WAFFLE HOUSE! Those pictures were fun too. You are making me HUNGRY!

I'm going to a Super Bowl party but the main reason I go is for the munchies and the funny commercial. I'm not too competitive so I don't really care who wins. :L)

I love me some Waffle House. Grits scattered, smothered, covered, diced, chunked....
Some of the older WH's give me the creeps with the layer of grease on the floor that makes your feet move when you are standing still!

Beautiful photos.
