Come on in! Welcome to the Cabin! Actually it is my cousins, Elaine and Paul's cabin. They call it Lazy River, for the cabin sits on the Little River, a "lazy little river" that flows in Mentone.
Here is a look at the loft hallway that overlooks the den area.
The cabin sleeps 15 people! It has three bedrooms and a sleeping porch, which I will show you in a minute.
Come on in, watch your step!
As you can see, everyone is welcome. It's a comfortable space, even for our canine friends. That is Sweetiepie, Elaine's Husky. Sweetie loves the cabin. Come on, I'll show you around. Look past Sweetie into the kitchen. I love how Elaine chose to go for a punch of color on the cabinets. They are red! She thought it would be a nice pop, a contrast to all the natural woodwork of the walls and floors.
You can see we did alot of snacking. Crafting takes alot of fuel. And we burned it off....besides calories don't count on vacation!
We had to cram all of our food onto the counter space, because we used the large farm table as a craft area.
Come on upstairs.....
Here is a look at the den from the loft area. I took this picture at 2:30 in the morning. I had got up to the sweet sound of rain on the tin roof. I walked outside my bedroom and it was such a cozy scene with the fire going, the lights on the mantle, and Sweetie Pie still snuggled on the floor.
This photo was taken earlier on. My mom is warming beside the fireplace. Elaine used alot of red's throughout, as you can see. I just love it!
I know you probably cannot see it in this photo, but Elaine paid attention to details. Her curtains are burlap. The rods are made from antlers. She has pinecones also on the curtain detail.
This antler chandler was handmade by Elaine. She began pricing them and couldn't believe the cost. So...she purchased antlers off of ebay and made one herself!!

My mom, Sister Sledge and I bunked in this room. It was like camp! A girls spend the night party!
There is another bedroom on the upper floor too. But I didn't take a photo of it on this trip.
Downstairs is the master bedroom, which Elaine may kill me for publishing, as we just tossed stuff down when we arrived.
It has a fabulous bathroom, that I do not know why I didn't take a photo of. The jacuzzi tub beckons one in after a day of hiking or canoeing.
Outside is one of my favorite things....the sleeping porch. The porch is enormous, running the length of the house. On one side is a big farmhouse table. In the middle a sitting area with some furniture that is made from sticks.
OH! On the far end...the sleeping porch! Imagine sleeping out here in the spring, or in the fall.....and oh! When it rains!!!
While we are outside, allow me to show you some neat little places.
Here the front porch. Curl up with a book and a blanket on that and watch the day breeze by!
Paul just completed this firepit. Last weekend some of Elaine's friends enjoyed this until wee hours of the morning. Just stoking the fire and chatting. The kids would have a blast cooking marshmallows and hotdogs here.

I have a quote from a sweet lady that I knew some years ago who had her own cottage in Mentone....now she has passed on to her "special Mentone". She said," it is a place where peace, assurance, faith and, courage are regained." I have experienced that same feeling that she did.
Love you,
Mom
