Son, Bama

In meet my frans yesterday I introduced you to Corey and Erin Nolen of Nolen Photography. On Monday of this week, I had them photograph Bama for his senior portraits. I am so impressed by their photography, that I had to have them take Bama's senior portraits. Erin asked me, "Why didn't you want to photograph {Bama} for his portraits?". Good question. And I have a good answer....It is because Bama has had to tolerate me with my camera in my hand his entire life. He has gotten to a point where he now detest my picture taking. I knew he would not give someone else a hard time, like he gives me. Another reason, again, is their photography.
I have mentioned how personal photography is to me. It is the moment captured through the eyes of someone else. It is a very personal thing. Like seeing something from the soul of another. Their interpretation of life at a specific moment in time. And I knew that Corey and Erin would give me something I would always love and appreciate-for a lifetime.
This morning Corey sent me the slide show. And this was my response...

Corey and Erin,
Honestly, there are no words. I am overcome with emotion. You did a beautiful job. Everything was perfect from the setting to the music. And yes, Corey, it seems both of our families are "waiting for the light to change" at this specific moment in our lives. I want to wish you and Erin the most blessed life as your family grows. I am so happy for the both of you. And share in your joy. And I cannot wait to see the lovely photographs (those moments captured in time) of the new face of your family.
I can never thank you enough.
Sincere Gratitude and Appreciation

So, here it is, I wanted to share with you. My son, "Bama".

And you will see why I have a standing reservation with Corey and Erin when, several years from now, Bama decides to take a wife.

If you want to make reservations, go to please, tell them that Leigh sent you.

She is going to be uncle sam in a mini skirt and I'm going to be the statue of liberty! I've bought beach balls, glow n the dark 4th of July tattoos, 4th of July decorated bubble bottles, gum and candy to throw out at the kids! I HOPE I WIN!!!! After that we are going to a lake front house to watch the firework show from the BIG bridge! Saturday we are going out in the boats to the sandy beach area to swim, lay out and drink! =)

Oh my! I can't believe our Brockhead is such a grown man! Brock is so incredibly handsome, and I really like the creativity the photographer used to capture Brock's personality. Thanks so much for sharing these pictures with me. Truly amazing!

P.S. Which shot will Brock use for his album cover? :-) (Because some of the pictures DO look like they belong on an album cover!)

Thanks so much for sharing the pics. Brock is so handsome! Can't believe he's that little baby I used to take for ice cream. I can't possibly be that old! He is so cute and I'm sure the girls bug you and him to death. So glad you let me know to check out your blog.
Talk to you soon.

This is awesome! I had to tear up and don’t even know Brock as well as I’m sure your close family and friends. Now you have me confused, early fall we need to do those photos of K! We were at the U of M this weekend for a wedding and there are some awesome spots there like you said. Anyway…My favorites of all those are the ones in front of the white block wall! I can’t wait for K to see these. We are driving to Nashville to see Kenny and spend the 4th of July (yes you will get photos) and I’m going to pull out my laptop and show her.

I just can't believe this is my precious angel baby boy(I've called him this since birth)! He's grown into such a handsome young man! God has blessed this family with his birth almost 18 years ago! WOW!
I must say, this brought tears to my eyes, just remembering him, as a baby.
The photography is the background. He was a good subject!
