Happy Independence Day!

Could I ever feel any more blessed than to be born into the great United States of America? I don't think so. I honestly thank God everyday for that blessing. I also pray for our soldiers that risk their lives each day, who making sacrifices to serve in the US military. And without fail, at any sporting event, when I hear the star spangled banner I well up with pride, tears flowing. I am so proud to be an American. I so love this country!!!

For me it goes even deeper. As I am one that loves genealogy and family history. Here is some useless information to you, but it is something that I am proud of...I am a proud descendant of Edward Rutledge, one of the signee's of the Declaration of Independence.

And if you are a fan of the movie, National Treasure, like my family is then you might find this interesting....

What's on the Back of the Declaration?
People who watched the popular movie "National Treasure" want to know. On the back, at the bottom, upside-down is simply written:
"Original Declaration of Independence dated 4th July 1776"
According to the National Archives, "While no one knows for certain who wrote it, it is known that early in its life, the large parchment document was rolled up for storage. So, it is likely that the notation was added simply as a label."
There are no hidden messages......

And so, there you go...some useless of useful information. That is up to you to decided.
Today I will celebrate with my family, we will be grilling and eating. We will take in the fireworks display. And we will all count our US citizenship and Independence as a country a blessing.
As Americans, we are blessed to live in a free country that affords its citizens liberty and prosperity that people in other countries will never know. During this Independence Day weekend, please take a moment to honor America and all that we are. Also, remember our military servicemen and women who are protecting our freedom across the globe and fighting for those who do not have the liberty our great country provides. Let us never forget those who have sacrificed before us to protect the United States and the values we hold dear.

I wanted to wish everyone safe and happy celebrations today!
Peace to all.
In the meantime, while the coals are starting to warm the grill take a moment and see how you score....

Hey, Leigh! Happy 4th...I've missed a few posts.

First, your LR makeover looks great, I think she did a good job changing things around & it looks like the paint color is slightly different, maybe more of a golden tone. That's good! And the new furniture arrangement looks good too. Do you feel like you're in a new space?!

And, your son's pics are just gorgeous! I know you must be SO proud. They did a fantastic job on them, they look SO unposed and natural. What a cutie he is. Those are just perfect pics all the way around & I know you'll treasure them always. I love where they shot them & how perfectly unposed they are. Beautiful!

What the hay...I love genealogy too! I have a family tree maker webpage devoted to my family. I'm descended from Thomas Graves, one of the founders of Jamestown. When I get back in the genealogy groove, I'm going to get into the Jamestown Society .... as well as DAR, Huegenot Society (hubby).

I got spooked when I found I am possibly descended from Mary Boelyn, sister of Ann.

Genealogy is such a HOOT!

That is great! I loved this! Some say that Edward died of a stroke when he heard that Washington has passed away.
