High School Reunion-of sorts...

Today was a strange day. It was a version of a high school reunion, which by the way I will be celebrating my 20th in 2008. How can that be? Today I ran into more people that I went to school with and have seen since I the day I graduated. Anyhow, I had lunch today with my parents at Golden Rule Barbecue and ran into David Herman. He graduated a year behind me . I have known David since elementary school. How unfair is it that he looked exactly the same. I mean exact, as if time for him stopped in 1988. Not a single gray, no middle aged rolls, no wrinkles. How can that be that he doesn't age?
After chatting with him for sometime I looked over and there was my younger brother, Jon, with Andy Benefield. Andy grew up across the street from us in our old neighborhood. I used to babysit Andy and his brother, Jay. They are like brothers to me, I adore them. It has been far to long since I have seen Andy. He is currently working for the governor and keeps the highways hot.
From there I did something for the first time in my life. I went into a gun store. It's just something I never needed to do. I just have never been in the market for a gun. I went into the Gun Cellar in Hoover with my mom, she wanted to pick up another mace (she walks at night and has had encounters with a bit pull lurking in the darkness and following her. ) Anyway, when I walked in I noticed photos of a "Captain Pinion". It was David Pinion. I went to school with David since elementary school and we graduated together. Then his sister, Amy walked up. looking prettier than ever. She told me all about David and his enlistment in the military. I swelled with pride at his service. There are pictures of him throughout the store. It was funny to see how this toe headed boy had become a man. A strong man. A Solider. I still have this image of him in my head of that of about 12 or 14. Where does time go?
Lastly, I went to Pelham PD to pick up an accident report (the accident my son was in on Monday) and there at the report desk sat one of my close friends from high school, Candace Hoops. I adored Candace. I still do. Like the others, she was still svelte and had that girlish figure. Model good looks. What happened to me? Have all these people been swimming in the fountain of youth in St Augustine, or something? Next year I will have a child graduating high school. It seems like yesterday I was attending with all of my friends.
It was a fun day. I got to catch up with many of my old friends. I love how God gives us fun little surprises like that.Oh! The places you'll go......

Wow, that is weird to have all those events happen at once.
