Take a walk along Helena's Buck Creek Commentary and Photos by Leigh Bratina
These photos were taken at Buck Creek in Helena this past spring and fall of last year. We are fortunate to have such a beautiful waterway run through our little city. There are walking trails that run along the creek, which also runs parallel to the railroad track offering beautiful scenery of the rail road bridge across the water. There is also plenty of nice spots for picnicking.
If you are feeling adventurous, Alabama Small Boats rents canoes and kayaks just down from Buck creek, where Buck Creek runs into the Cahaba. Alabama Small Boats is located on Highway 17 N/Morgan Rd on the left. It is a great way to view the peaceful surroundings that is the Cahaba River.
