Birthdays, for me are like a walk in the park.....a park where they don't clean up after the dogs.

Ahhh, another year-another birthday. Today hit 37 years old on the road map of age. As my friend, Courtney told me, I am now an honorary member of the "middle-aged club". I now have my own tiara and scepter and can pretend as though I know it all, though much of it I cannot remember. I laugh aloud that I can now fully relate to the scene from Fried Green Tomatoes where Kathy Bates says to a car full of younger women, “I am older, and I have more insurance.” It's true.
How in the world did I become this age? How did it arrive so quickly? I can tell you that the bags under my eyes and my boobs arrived long before the rest of me did. I always wanted to go further south-I didn't realize how eager my body was to get there.
As I approached today, the rest of my body gave me my own little private welcoming party, but at least I made it. I am happy to be here. I embrace it. I embrace anything that isn't death. I still have alot of living to do.Age is only a number, and I have never been good with numbers anyway.
There is a magnet on my refrigerator that reads; If you didn't know how old you were, how old would I be? I think I would be about 33.
Old enough to know better, yet young enough to enjoy things with a zest.

As Jimmy (Buffett) sings:
"I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
So let the winds of change blow over my head
I'd rather die while I'm living then live while I'm dead"
Thanks to all of you for the kind words, cards, phone calls, and emails. I love you!

..dont forget about those special moments of checking off the higher age bracket! Always a sobering moment.
