Sips-n-Strokes

Sips-n-strokes. It is an ingenious concept by artist Wendy Lovoy. At sips-n-strokes, prospective Rembrandt's (and even adult aged "preschool" equivalency artist) are invited to bring a favorite bottle of wine or beverage, and paint a picture along with LoVoy as she shows beginning artist systematically how to paint a beautiful masterpiece that you will take home at the end of the evening. Prices are reasonable, and range from $25.00-$40.00, with all supplies included. All you need to do is show up.You need not be an artist to paint a masterpiece. Lovoy will work at a reasonable pace and explains things very well. Remember, art is in the eye of the beholder and if all else fails, blame it on the wine.
I recently went to one of Wendy’s classes and took along with me my mother in law, Tuiren Bratina and cousin, Sandie Frazier. Because the way the class is setup, there was plenty of time for conversations between “sips and strokes”. We had a wonderful time at this adult only night out. We were able to bring our finished artwork home with us at the end of the evening. Reservations are necessary. A word to the wise-classes fill up very quickly. You might want to consider planning to attend and making your reservations about a month in advance. Lovoy does post a monthly calendar on her web site; one can look and see what is scheduled to be painted. Sips-n-Strokes currently has only one location in Inverness, off of Highway 280, with more locations coming soon.
