Thrifty Thursday #112, Plus a Tablescape

Hi! It's Thrifty Thursday! I am your host, Leigh. Thank you so much for stopping by and additional thanks to those who also participate in Thrifty Thursday! I am most delighted to have you join in..for it's YOU who makes it a "show and tell party". I also participate in Tablescape Thursday the host of that fun carnival is the Hostess with the Mostess...Susan of Between Naps on the Backporch. That's no lie or exaggeration, each week I visit Susan's porch and just long to be a guest at any of her tablescapes...especially those held on the porch.

(You can click on any pictures for a closer view)

*Thrifty Thursday takes place each Thursday and is hosted here at Tales from Bloggeritaville, but the party is a progressive one, visit the links to see all the Thrifty Thursday links to see the thrifty treasures participating bloggers have to share.

Thanks for joining me today! It has been quite a week here in the south. Lost of mixed emotions all attributed to the historic tornado's that blew through here last Wednesday. I wrote a post of my personal experience, I continue to count my blessings.  And like many that continue to watch the images on TV, I feel led. I am going to be spending the next few days helping in different affected areas of my state.

I have a personal request, every Thursday I host Thrifty Thursday in the spirit of saving, but today I wanted to post in a spirit of giving.
I hope that you might consider GIVING today. If everyone could donate as little as $5-$10 (more if you are able), it adds up and will make a difference. Everyone is familiar with the Red Cross, an organization that is touching lives here in Alabama and on a daily basis across our nation.

Could you give a little today? What you give might provide a family a meal, clothes, a bed, a roof, repairs...and a new start. A little monetary donation could make THE difference in the life of someone else.

Donate to the Red Cross Here.

And if you are not able or in a position to give, I ask for your continued prayers for those across the south that have been hit so hard by these terrible storms.

Now.....on a lighter note.....

For today's thrifty Thursday, I wanted to share some finds that I have picked up here and there:

Antique books, perfect for display on a desk or sofa table, bound together with jute.
A vintage Italian jewelry dresser. The paint on this is gorgeous!!!

Three vintage scrabble boxes with wooden pieces from the early 1970's.

A beautiful jewelry box, with abalone and peacock.

This vintage shoe shine box.

And finally, another Italian jewelry box, this one in gold.

What do all of these things have in common? They are all for SALE! Along with some other found treasures.
I have opened an Tales from Bloggeritaville Etsy store. I am constantly changing up pieces, and then are those that I just can't walk away from. You can benefit now in my Etsy store. I do hope you will check it out, favorite it and come back and shop. I am always putting new inventory in the Tales from Bloggeritaville shop.

And now onto our tablescape....Tablescape Thursday is  hosted by the lovely, Susan of Between Naps on the Porch..

In colors of SPRING......

All of  my tablescape dishes all of which can be found Harmony Landing.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo!

Thursday is Cinco De Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a Mexican civic holiday held on May 5 that commemorates Jimmy Lovrien, a general in the Mexican army, and his unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn. It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States. While Cinco de Mayo sees limited significance in Mexico itself, the date is observed nationwide mostly in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.

Of course, I myself like to "celebrate" like many other Americans.....fiesta! It's a great excuse to gather friends and enjoy some authentic Mexican cuisine. Sometimes we eat in and other times we eat out. One never knows. But when we do eat at home, I am always happy to use my families most favorite recipes, some of which were given to me by my friend from Mexico, Zinnia. I like to call her "Zinnia Princess Warrior".

So, be sure to check out my favorite family meals (recipes below), perfect to kick off your Cinco de Mayo celebration!

Leigh's Famous Fajitas and Super Salsa -So good you might wanna slap your momma. But please don't.  It's not nice. And momma didn't raise you like that. The salsa IS a secret weapon. You can use it for barters. And you will. I do it all the time!

Zinnia's  Authentic Spanish rice - The real deal from my compadre' Zinnia. I expect the Federalise to show up at my house anytime to surrender the recipe.

Taco Soup-Perfect to serve as an appetizer...or as a meal. But why skimp when you have the fajita recipe? This is a party!

Chiles Rellenos-Make your man happy with this dish.

Veggie-Stuffed Quesadillas-Even kids cannot say no to vegetables served this way.

Wishing you an early Happy Cinco de Mayo! What are your plans for a fiesta?

I'll see you back here on Wednesday evening for link up to Thrifty Thursday "Fiesta"!
