Thrifty Thursday #106

Hi! It's Thrifty Thursday! I am your host, Leigh. Thank you so much for stopping by and additional thanks to those who also participate in Thrifty Thursday! I am most delighted to have you join in..for it's YOU who makes it a "show and tell party". I also participate in Tablescape Thursday the host of that fun carnival is the Hostess with the Mostess...Susan of Between Naps on the Backporch. That's no lie or exaggeration, each week I visit Susan's porch and just long to be a guest at any of her tablescapes...especially those held on the porch.

(You can click on any pictures for a closer view)

*Thrifty Thursday takes place each Thursday and is hosted here at Tales from Bloggeritaville, but the party is a progressive one, visit the links to see all the Thrifty Thursday links to see the thrifty treasures participating bloggers have to share.

*Don't forget to copy and paste the Thrifty Thursday logo button to your computer so you can add it to your side bar and your Thrifty Thursday post. That way visitors will know that your are participating in Thrifty Thursday.

I hope you got a chance to read my post from yesterday.

If you didn't...I just returned from a whirlwind tour of The Florida gulf coast-all the way south to Sanibel Island as well as New Orleans. I cannot wait to fill you in on all of the places we stopped along the way. Our theme in Florida was "Old Florida". No big theme parks, no chain restaurants. We had a blast!!! I hope you will read yesterday's post if you missed it....and I hope you will join me in the days to come on our Bloggeritaville roadtrip!

I didn't have to much time to thrift, however I do want to give props to Big Daddy for allowing me a quick trip to the cleanest, most well organized, downright fabulous Goodwill store in Venice, Florida. When Big Daddy is waiting in the car, I get nervous because I know I am on borrowed time. I didn't come home with anything from there, although Sister Sledge found her some t shirts. My big thrifty find on my trip was the ones provided by the good Lord above, in the way of cheap souvenirs....seashells from Sanibel. And you know how I love seashells in vases in my home.

Take a look...

Now that counts for thrifty, right? Free vacation souvenir!

A bit of useless information: A souvenir (from French, for a rememberance or memory), memento, keepsake or token of rememberance] is an object a person acquires for the memories the owner associates with it. The term souvenir brings to mind the mass-produced kitch that is the main commodity of souvenir and gift shops in many tourist traps around the world. But a souvenir can be any object that can be collected or purchased and transported home by the traveler. The object itself has no real significance other than the psychological connection the possessor has with the object as a symbol of past experience. Without the owner's input, the object's meaning is invisible and cannot be articulated.

Indeed.

And as for the teaser from yesterday....I promise....you bring your "tail" back here tomorrow and we'll have some fun!

This Thursday I am joining in Tablescape Thursday , hosted by Between Naps on the Porch. With all the running we did, most of our dining, as mentioned, was in local dives. However, we did manage to have a beach picnic or two along the way.  Cuban sandwiches, baked chips, fresh fruit and cold drinks. Life is good.

All of my dishes can be found at At Home in Homewood, Alabama.

Thank you for dropping my Bloggeritaville today! I have thoroughly enjoyed you visit. Please use Mr. McLinky below to link up your blog. Please leave a comment after linking. I love to hear from you.I encourage you all to spread the love and visit the other thrifty Thursday participants, for that's what half the fun is. Aside from seeing a cool treasure it's making friends!

Thank you, all, FRIENDS! I appreciate YOU!
HUGS! Hope to see you tomorrow, but not before you leave some "roadmap" love!

You can always visit me on FACEBOOK,
I love me some friends: be they new friends or old friends!

I have to agree that seashells would be my kind of souvenir. You sound like you had an amazing trip. Florida is where I would like to be right now, especially given that we just had a snow storm and got over 15 cm of snow. Yikes.

Hi Leigh! How are you doing? I feel like I haven't been here in ages and it is because I've barely been blogging. Love all those shells...makes me dream of hot days, the sound of the ocean waves, picnics and ice tea! HOpe you are doing well.
blessings,
Debbie

Love the shells, Leigh! We used to go to Sanibel to collect shells when I was a little girl. We would ride over from Ft Myers Beach in my dad's boat because there was no bridge yet...only a ferry! Fun memories! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie

OMG It is a small world now

One of my good friends and her husband are in Venice Florida for the winter and my friend never goes to thrift shops I begged her to just try it. well she went to the Goodwill in Venice and called me and it it was very nice and she bought shorts to just leave at the condo so she didn't have to carry clothes back and fort to Missouri
I love those shells what a good trip you had . I want to go to Florida before it gets warm weather.
Thanks for having our Thrifty Thursdays
