Thrifty Thursday #101, Plus a Tablescape!!!

Hi! It's Thrifty Thursday! I am your host, Leigh. Thank you so much for stopping by and additional thanks to those who also participate in Thrifty Thursday! I am most delighted to have you join in..for it's YOU who makes it a "show and tell party". I also participate in Tablescape Thursday the host of that fun carnival is the Hostess with the Mostess...Susan of Between Naps on the Backporch. That's no lie or exaggeration, each week I visit Susan's porch and just long to be a guest at any of her tablescapes...especially those held on the porch.

(You can click on any pictures for a closer view)

*Thrifty Thursday takes place each Thursday and is hosted here at Tales from Bloggeritaville, but the party is a progressive one, visit the links to see all the Thrifty Thursday links to see the thrifty treasures participating bloggers have to share.

*Don't forget to copy and paste the Thrifty Thursday logo button to your computer so you can add it to your side bar and your Thrifty Thursday post. That way visitors will know that your are participating in Thrifty Thursday.

First of all, I want to welcome our new Thrifty Thursday participants and Tales from Bloggeritaville followers. We have had several comment in the last few weeks, saying that they are new to the Thrifty Thursday party. I hope that everyone will make a point to pay a visit to other participants.

This Thrifty Thursday I am featuring a joint project, another lamp.
Sometime ago I shared an architectural find with you, a porch banister, er pole that I found in an antique store, The French Flea. The banister pole was $12.00
I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it.
I had seen a lamp and took a picture of  the lamp that I had seen in a local Home Decor shop.

Their lamp was almost five hundred dollars.
(Gulp)
I know. Crazy, right?
Anyway, I had my banister pole and then needed to find the right man for the job. Someone who I knew could see my vision and make it a reality. Someone who wouldn't laugh at me when I brought them a piece of trash and expected it to become a treasured piece.
Meet that someone....

Jim Wathen.
Local Helena celebrity.
Handy Man Extraordinaire. In fact he makes a living at it.
I showed Jim my photos and left him my pole.
And sometime in between his home jobs, home life, multi task and managing to tackle the great task of getting the 100 year old church , where he is a parishioner, listed in on the Historical registry (He is in the process of trying to get it listed Nationally) he found the time to make my lamp.
God bless that man.

He took that pole and the pictures I had for inspiration and created just what I had in mind....

First he created the base. Then he ran the electrical wiring through the pole.

I found the lamp shade at the thrift store just yesterday. It actually came with a lamp for $3.88. I purchased the lamp, took off the shade and donated the lamp base back to the thrift store. A bargain!

I love it!!!

Jim, I cannot thank you enough for seeing through the trash, my "new" lamp is now a treasured piece in my home. It adds a bit of history and eclecticness/character to my living space and it was made my a good friend. A treasure...the friend....and the lamp.  Sincere Gratitude!!!!

I am joining in Tablescape Thursday today, hosted by Between Naps on the Porch: I was in the mood for some color in my Tablescape today. To much gray days....color needed. So why not in the way of colorful dishes?

Now for the giveaway..... Last Week in celebration of #100, or #101....for those that know how to count, CSN agreed to sponsor a giveaway  to one of our paty go-ers.

No. Way.

Really?

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Leigh I am SO excited! Thank you so much for your generosity - I am thrilled to have won the Giveaway!

I was excited about how your lamp turned out and now I am just over the moon!

*Must settle down* Leigh, I know that you are sentimental and I think having a lamp crafted for you by a 'local Helena celebrity' has created a family heirloom. My kids have already started saying "I get that one day." I imagine your kiddos will be the same way.

Love you Leigh! Again, THANK YOU!

Leigh, I absolutely adore your header photo! You in that innertube; quintessential bliss!

Hi Leigh,
I loooove your lamp! I think it is even better than the $500 one. The table looks great as well. The party was great last week and I can't wait to see what everyone has cooked up for this week.

Love the lamp! Your friend did a fabulous job with it! And, yes, you are right - there have been way too many gray days this winter. At least there is snow on the ground today though :)

I think your lamp is wonderful and am so happy you found someone who did not question your sanity.
(I do question the sanity of someone paying $500 for one.)

Today it is in the double digits BELOW zero, so again I have to thrift virtually only, through your great party and revel in the success of others.

I'm taking an online course and our assignment is to find music that inspires us. I knew exactly where to come. Thank you for making my task so easy.

That is the best lamp EVER! Hmmmm now I'm on the look out for a piece of discarded wood I can turn into a lamp. Thanks for the inspiration.
