Friday Rewind and a Bathroom Flasher

Hi! Thanks for dropping by today. I am glad you are here. Did you happen to have a chance to stop in on some of the wonderful Thrifty Thursday contributors from yesterday? There were so many treasures, great ideas, suggestions. I hope you will indulge me, I wanted to share a few of my favorite Thrifty Thursday post from yesterday.

Vintage Swampgirl really needs to open her own Etsy shop. Check out the dresses she made:

She is also churning out some hot jewelry on a budget. These bib necklaces are all the rage right now:

Stephanie Lynn of Under the Table and Dreaming shared the most amazing homemade Mother's Day gift.

I would LOVE this. And use this! And I am going to make this! Shephanie Lynn always has the best projects and ideas. Never at a loss.....Thanks Steph!

You know I love some catalog inspiration. So does the adorable Sarah of Someday Crafts.
 Love her.
She saw some gorgeous mirrors featured in catalogs, but the pricing.....just plain silly.

Ballard Designs Mirror: $139.00

Anthropologie Antiqued Mirrors: $695.00

"WHAT?" You ask. I know. It's not a infamous artist original piece. It's a mirror made to look fabulously aged and old. But at that price...
Well Sarah made it easy and cheap. (Smiles big)
Her {antiqued & awesome} Mirror: $15.50

And I like Sarah's version better.

Will you just look at Lisa of Pickles and Cheese flower pots....

This was just a few of her spraypainted pots made perfect. Click over to see them all. I got to tell you, I will be painting some flower pots this weekend (but only after I visit the Buck Creek Festival). Thanks Lisa. I am such a wannabe.
Jane at Finding Fabulous gave her outdoor table a redo with a can of cheap spray paint. You will not believe the before and after. Gorgeous done on dimes!

This is one of my favorite post. Amy of Money4ThisNot That Shared her daughter's prom dress with accessories on a budget. I have to tell you, as a photographer I am shocked, really SHOCKED at what parents spend on their child's prom dress. Something most kids wear once. I would have a hard time spending it on a wedding dress, much less a prom dress. I think of how far that money could go in not only my life....but most notably in the life of someone who really has a need. I mean a real need.
Amy called the bluff of parents everywhere, she outfitted her daughter in a gorgeous stylish  high style fashionable dress.....and the accessories to go with it for

(drum roll)

Twenty Four bucks.
Who knew $24.00 could look this glamorous!

And I end my Thrifty Thursday recap with that. Amy, you are AMAZING!
Click on Amy's blog and she'll show you HOW she did it.
And Amy....your daughter...........GORGEOUS. And what a precious prom couple.

PS Amy's daughter is getting double wear out of this dress. (Standing "O")

Before I go and enjoy a weekend at my hometown's BUCK CREEK FESTIVAL
I want to share something on todays post ....

"Ah, hem. My name is Leigh.

And I have been known to be a Bathroom Snapper.

I am joining into today in Shelia of Notesongs Bathroom Snappers Revolution. If you are too, then thank you for stopping by. I thank you and hope you might decide to follow, or at least drop by again sometime."

TODAY is the last day to enter the giveaway on my food blog, Plates and Places.
While there you will not want to miss the recipe for Ms Ann's Mandarin Orange Dessert.
Have sweet mercy.
Yes. That good.

Thanks to Everyone for taking the time to stop by today! Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
HUGS!

Your picture is beautiful! I always go to thrift stores looking for dishes/glassware, but I noticed the "fancy" dresses my last time there. I thought that if I ever went on a cruise and needed to dress up for just one night, what a great idea! Here's proof!

You're so right about those outrageous catalog prices Leigh. Thrifty Thursday in Bloggeriaville is going to put them out of business!
Cute picture sweetie!

Maybe we had better start a bathroom snapper's anonymous (hmm, it would help if I could spell it!). Have a fun weekend--we have a bluegrass festival here this weekend ;-)

Hi Leigh,
Another awesome post, what inspiring ideas! And that prom dress is lovely, I agree with you about how much people spend, and thinking it's money that could be put to better use. We remade one of my old dresses for my eldest's prom a few years back, and she loved it because it was special and unique, the only one like it in the world! (I had originally worn the dress for New Year's eve in the 80's - it needed some serious updating! But it was fun and turned out gorgeous.)
Love your picture, you are a real cutie!
Happy mother's day
