Thrifty Thursday # 52, plus a Tablescape

Hi! It's Thrifty Thursday! I am your host, Leigh. Thank you so much for stopping by and additional thanks to those who also participate in Thrifty Thursday! I am most delighted to have you join in..for it's YOU who makes it a "show and tell party". I also participate in Tablescape Thursday the host of that fun carnival is the Hostess with the Mostess...Susan of Between Naps on the Backporch. That's no lie or exaggeration, each week I visit Susan's porch and just long to be a guest at any of her tablescapes...especially those held on the porch.

(You can click on any pictures for a closer view)

*Thrifty Thursday takes place each Thursday and is hosted here at Tales from Bloggeritaville, but the party is a progressive one, visit the links to see all the Thrifty Thursday links to see the thrifty treasures participating bloggers have to share.

*Don't forget to copy and paste the Thrifty Thursday logo button to your computer so you can add it to your side bar and your Thrifty Thursday post. That way visitors will know that your are participating in Thrifty Thursday.

This is my Thrifty Bathroom. This is the bathroom that my "tween" kids share. With a boy and a girl, I wanted something gender neutral and friendly. Something that was "Happy & Sunny". Of course, it ended up having some beachy influences.
The Shower Curtain was a Thrift Store find. It is from Pottery Barn. The palm trees and clouds are all chenille. It cost me $2.88

The pictures in the mirror refection came from a garage sale. Sorry I didn't get any closer shots. The pictures are travel themed prints featuring old maps and compases. The basket on the toilet is another thrift store find, 39 cents. It holds travel/guest soaps and shampoo's.

I purchased this lamp (below) at Old Time Pottery for less than 10 bucks. I liked the fact that it looked like a lantern. My kids use it to light the way to the bathroom at night, should they get up.
The seashell box (I love these things) was a 59 cent thrift store find. It alsoholds travel hand soaps.

These glass jars that look like old apothocary jars came from one of my favorite stores in Homewood, Three Sheets. I had eyeballed them for quite awhile. When they were put on clearance, I snapped them up. One is filled with beach glass, the other found seashells.

This shelf came from Home Goods. It was a clearance item. It cost me $7.00
Inside I keep more travel sized toiletry items, as well as children;s tylenol and the like, so that if we have a nighttime emergency or illness, I have those products on hand.

Now, onto to Tablescape Thursday, which is hosted by Susan of Between Naps on the Porch.

I am not a big fan of Valentine's day. Forgive me. I just prefer to celebrate the essense of Valentine's Day throughout the year rather than the day when the world expects. I feel cheesey doing it, but I don't think you are. It's just the way I feel.
That being said, I do get the concept. And I do buy my kids Valentine's card and candy, I guess because I think maybe they won't be jaded like I am.
This being said, I am not the best one to have a V Day tablescape. I might try a "romantic" tablescape on a regular day. You'll have to wait for that. In the meantine, I bring you this table and thrity ideas from from BH&G:
Visit a crafts store for a heart-shape cardboard box to decorate with pink crafts paint and glued-on seed beads.
Also pick up pink organza ribbon to tie around a light pink linen napkin and a votive candleholder.
Then stop at an upscale candy store for chocolates to nestle into a cloud of pink tulle that's tucked in the box.
Top the whole thing off with a bunch of pink roses arranged in an antique silver creamer, just the right size to dress an intimate table for two.
What is a tablescape without the food? I invite you to stop by my food blog, PLATES & PLACES, tomorrow for Foodie Friday!

Thanks to all of you for stopping by and participating in today's Thrifty Thursday. Please use Mr. Linky below to link up your blog.
I encourage you all to spread the love and visit the other thrifty Thursday participants, for that's what half the fun is. Aside from seeing a cool treasure it's making friends!

Thank you, all, FRIENDS! I appreciate YOU!

Great thrifty bathroom! It's so easy to get caught up in buying all the matchy- matchy bathroom stuff in the stores. By the time you walk out with towel, shower curtain, trash can, etc. etc. you've spent an arm and a leg!

I love the way the light is hitting the shells and sea glass.
Hugs,
Dawn

Thank you so much for hosting this wonderful party! I love seeing everyone's treasures. Your bathroom is beautiful. It is making me want to makeover my children's bathroom which also needs to be non-gender specific :) Thanks for the inspiration.

That shelf blows me away! And the lantern lamp is adorable. It really suits the decor!

It looks like you have a lot of natural light in your bathroom... a great place to sit a spell.
