It's almost football season...and around my house, it's a big deal.
Especially when you are one that hails from a "mixed marriage".
Yes. I live in a house divided.
My husband graduated from Auburn. I married him anyway. That's love.
My family, the one that I was born and bred, are Alabama all the way. We are a four generation family of Alabama graduates, with one currently enrolled, that being my son, "Bama". (RTR)
I am proud to say that I have many family relatives that graduated from U of A...and even a cousin who holds a current position on the Alabama athletic staff (Hey Ronny!) after playing under The Bear. We are committed folks.
One really cannot understand the rivalry between Alabama and Auburn football, unless you hail from the south. And most certainly, the state of Alabama, where come football season there are definite lines that can separate families and destroy relationships. I kid you not, it's hardcore.
In may family however, it has been a playful competition of bragging rights. No one is disrespectful or rude, it's all in good fun.
My husband somehow convinced Sister Sledge a couple years ago to jump fence and now she waves orange and blue poms. (Sniff) I have to give major props to my sweet husband, Big Daddy, who despite his passion for Auburn, wrote a big fat tuition check to the college of his rival team...for the promise of a good education and love of his son....again-that's love!)
Myself and my two boys, however proudly sing the Alabama fight song when the smell of SEC football permeates the southern air. We bleed crimson.
Alabama Blogger is currently hosting a fun competition....a thing of bragging rights...and perhaps a prize for the winning participants, Participating in the carnival the week of August 31st! (points will be tallied by all those who link in from August 31st to September 7th on the official carnival post)
And because I have a blog.....
Big Daddy, you are on your own. Looks like you better get yourself a blog. ;)
If you do not cheer for either Alabama or Auburn, you can still participate (Keetha!).
You can find a blog button for most SEC teams at Alabama Blogger. If your's is not listed, leave Rachel a comment and she will make you a button. Sign up at Alabama Blogger, and please leave a comment saying that you saw it at Bloggeritaville.

I THINK blogger ate my comment (technical difficulties and all that jazz). What I was saying was...
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME CRIMSON TIDE FOOTBALL?!!
Roll Tide! I'm glad we have the Tide in common.
Hugs Leigh!
Hey Leigh
I did a post yesterday on google/follower problems and will do a follow up of how I fixed the issue-tomorrow. I don't think a lot of people realize some settings have changed and their account is not accessible-yours is one of them that I can not access from my follower page. I bet you didn't know that did you?
Cheri
What fun!!!!! Of course, living in Georgia, I bleed red and black, but. . . if I had to choose between Bama and Auburn, Bama would win hands down!!!!! We dawg fans can't stand Auburn and all the other ORANGE in the SEC. When I get a minute, I'm gonna check out the buttons. Maybe there's a Georgia dawg over there.
I've already scored for Arkansas, and even though I know I won't win, it's fun to participate.
I suggest ordering the Alabama themed checks with a big A on it and red cover..will make the many more checks he's going to write a bit more fun!! HA! :)...oh, or when he opens the check book the Alabama fight song plays~ cbc
I wish my DH was into sports, but he is a classic car person. I on the other hand am right there with you cheering loudly on the stands!
I know of rivalries as in my home state we've got the University of Michigan (UofM) and Michigan State University (MSU.)
I'm MSU all the way - I even attended :) I'm green and white. Thankfully so is my husband!
SOunds like you have a lot of fun with the rivalry in your home :)
Roll Tide! The rivalry is great isn't it? I am an Alabama graduate, and my sister is an Auburn graduate. My father actually has a degree from both schools, but he is a big Alabama fan. My mom is an Auburn to Alabama convert, and she graduated from Alabama! Football season is full of fun family fueding!
Excuse me ma'am, I can't quite figure it out, WHICH NCAA FB team did you say you pull for????
We have a family divided! Notre Dame and University of Michigan. Most of us are die hard ND fans, but we have a few that are Michigan fans!!
