Thrifty Thursday #22

Hi there, my friends!! It's #22 of our Thrifty Thursday! Thanks for dropping by! I really appreciate all of you playing along in Thrifty Thursday. It is enjoyable to see what treasures all of you find. Not to mention the biggest treasure-meeting you and discovering some fabulous blogs! That's the best part!

A quick recap of Thrifty Thursday, for those who may be new to the idea....Thrifty Thursday is a show and tell of sorts. It is time for you to showcase your thrifty find. It can be an old find or a new one. It might be something that you found at a thrift store, a consignment store, flea market, garage/yard sale, dumpster diving, even antique stores. It's it was a thrifty find, then it meets the requirements. I am not picky, It can be a great pair of boots & a killer vintage dress, jewelry, home decor, even fishing lures. It is your thrifty find.
Tell me about it.Where did you find it? What is it? What do you plan to do with it or how do you plan to use it in your home? Do you want to sell it?Thrifty Thursday's are about the thrill of the hunt...and the treasure you found. So....do show and tell!

Now...onto to the Thrifty Thursday! I am pleased to share with you my good buy of the week. You might have read that my friend, Diva has inheirited her mother's collectables and antiques. While she is planning to sell some at the up and coming estate sale in July (date TBA), she has also kept some pieces of her own that are sentimental to her. In being able to make room for her new pieces, it's out with the old and not sentimental for her. That's how I aquired this week's Thrifty Thursday.

Diva originally purchase the dining hutch at a antique and junque shop in New Orleans. She had it professionally restored and refinished. She sold it to me for $50.00. She said that she thinks someone cut the legs off of the piece (gasp!). I told her that I plan to purchase some bun feet and attach them to the bottom. I think it will look better.

In the meantime though, I couldn't wait to show it in my TT post. Look at the detailing...

It came with the key that is in the lock. My mother gave me the set of keys earlier in the week. I collect antique keys.

And be certain to look inside too, it is my feistaware that I collected from the thrift store and garage sales. Much of it came in a box at a sale for $5.00. The green and blue pieces (seen in the top photo) were purchased at the thrift store for less than 4 dollars a piece. The small plates were 79 cents!

Be sure to grab a button and link back with your direct hyperlink.
Link back to this post in your Thrifty Thursday post.

I also have another carnival that I like to participate in on Thursday's. This week I am at the beach and my tablescape, lacks a charming appeal, aside from the beautiful views and the salt in the air. The paper plates don't promote much um-pah, but with a view of the coast, my meal took the back burner.
For supper, baked spaghetti, a side salad and homemade sour dough bread. Ummm. I want to encourage you to visit my friend Susan of Between Naps on the Porch.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I am so very appreciative! I will be stopping by your place soon!
Be sure to link up-but today by leaving your direct link in the comments. I will also be putting the direct links within the post, since Mr. Linky is no longer being friendly.
Please be sure to visit other Thrifty Thursday participants to see what treasures they found.

I love this Leigh and yes, someone cut the legs off! If you look at my Mother's cabinet in my dining room, you will see the legs that would be similar to the legs that were on your cabinet.

Legs or no legs, it's beautiful!!

Love the keys hanging on the buffet.

Love the Fiesta ware - - - I think you may already know that we collect it too.

And your tablescape is just my style, and the ONLY style that makes any sense at the beach!!!

Hi there!!!

Well, I'm new to Thrifty Thursday but I couldn't help but to share some inspiration on our discovery and making it into a grapevine trellis (along with a few others that I will post about later on!)

Do check it out! I hope you have a beautiful day!

That hutch is gorgeous! I can see why you scooped it up. The keys add some additional charm to the whole thing.

I'm thriftyless this week. I've been wracking my brain - since I spent a few thousand dollars yesterday on a camera and equipment, I'm feeling even less thrifty LOL

It's a beautiful cabinet. $50, wow! My great grandfather made a similar cabinet that my aunt refinished in a beautiful dark stain.
I'm having a giveaway at my blog (in fact the silver leaves you liked last week). Stop by! :)

What a gorgeous antique you got for a song! Yes, I think bun feet would look great on it. I wish I could find some Fiesta Ware for a price like that. I've been wanting some for ages. That view is phenomenal. I don't care if I had bread and water with that view! I would still be in heaven.

Love your new hutch. It is so pretty and the details are gorgeous. Your fiesta ware is also lovely. You have quite a collection. I so agree that with your view, I would be happy with bread and water. Gorgeous. BTW I just discovered that if you sign up as a Gold member for $10 yr that Mr. Linky works just great. They have discontinued the free version, but I thought $10 was cheap enough. Hugs, Marty

GASP! SOMEONE CUT THE LEGS OFF! I totally think you're right...it looks a lot like my china cabinet, which has legs that are about a foot and change high. Yours is still beautiful...great detail. And I think adding bun feet is a fabulous idea!

Speaking of "change" I linked to Thrifty Thursday from my recent globe post. Mr. Globe only cost me two quarters so I figured I couldn't get thriftier than that. :-)
