Thrifty Thursday #21

Hi there, my friends!! It's #21 of our Thrifty Thursday! Thanks for dropping by! I really appreciate all of you playing along in Thrifty Thursday. It is enjoyable to see what treasures all of you find. Not to mention the biggest treasure-meeting you and discovering some fabulous blogs! That's the best part!

A quick recap of Thrifty Thursday, for those who may be new to the idea....Thrifty Thursday is a show and tell of sorts. It is time for you to showcase your thrifty find. It can be an old find or a new one. It might be something that you found at a thrift store, a consignment store, flea market, garage/yard sale, dumpster diving, even antique stores. It's it was a thrifty find, then it meets the requirements. I am not picky, It can be a great pair of boots & a killer vintage dress, jewelry, home decor, even fishing lures. It is your thrifty find.
Tell me about it.Where did you find it? What is it? What do you plan to do with it or how do you plan to use it in your home? Do you want to sell it?Thrifty Thursday's are about the thrill of the hunt...and the treasure you found. So....do show and tell!

Today, a special post. A "field trip"my local thrift store! Accompanying me on my trip are my friends from the clematis club, most of which are newbies when it comes to scoping the thrift store.

I have my little routine that I follow when I go to the thrift store. First I go to furniture, then dishes, purses, frames, wooden and miscellaneous, and then onto clothing and books. It's the order I follow, based mostly on the layout of where I shop. I really cannot say there is a more logical reason for it than that. I had my group follow me to the furniture section first, where I pointed out a large armoire. Diva really liked the step stool, though she decided to pass.
Dishes were next. My friend Audrey found a serving platter that she purchased, which I failed to take a photo of. We also found these willow plates.
You can spot true blue willow by the size of the birds in the background. They are skinny. IN fakes they are fatter sized birds.

Here was a set of nice antique china....

And I saw these and couldn't help but think of blogger-Shelia-who loves roosters and uses them in her tablescapes from time to time. 70 cents for these bowls.

Next up-purses. I have found some great bags in this section.
It helps to know what you are looking for in what you want to purchase or are considering purchasing.
It's a good idea to keep room measurements in your purse should you find that perfect piece. Carry a measuring tape.
And I always say, if you really like it-get it! If not, it will certainly be gone. I have done that for the last time, to have regrets about not purchasing something.
I figure if it isn't a big investment, you can always sell it. Gotta love eBay.
Sweetness found two great pictures, priced at less than five dollars each. We loved the rabbit, marked St John, which I assume is the name of the artist. The boat scene was nice and had a linen matte. Very unique.
A good reminder for the thrift store-don't forget that many offer daily discounts. It's good to check the signs that tell the daily ticket discounts (you can see it hanging from the ceiling).
We each found some great items. I purchased a framed print, a zebra print mirror, a ceramic planter, a milk glass piece and a fair amount of clothing. Most of the clothing was good name brands-Ralph Lauren, J Jill, Calvin Klein and Ann Taylor. I paid about 2-4 each piece. A good washing will be good as new. I will share these items on a future Thrifty Thursday post.
Diva racked up as well with clothing, a copper mirror and even a toy for her son.

We immediately went back to Sweetness; home and began to look for a place to hang her artwork. I suggested this place in her keeping room for the bunny.
She already had some similar looking prints and the space has a very tall ceiling so she needed something for height to draw the eye upward. One nail hole later-and it was meant to be!

And that is my tour of my local thrift store.
Be sure to grab a button and link back with your direct hyperlink.

Usually I participate in Susan's Tablescape, but this week I have been so behind on things. I thank those that have checked in with me, All is ok, I am just trying desperately to get caught up. Hopefully the remainder of the week will be better. I do want to encourage you though to visit my friend Susan of Between Naps on the Porch.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I am so very appreciative! I will be later today in stopping by, as I have a full salte-but I will be by! Promise!
Be sure to stop by Alabama Bloggers today and read my post on Magnolia Springs, in case you missed it!
Be sure to link up-but today by leaving your direct link in the comments. I will also be putting the direct links within the post, since Mr. Linky is no longer being friendly.
Please be sure to visit other Thrifty Thursday participants to see what treasures they found.

I stayed up for ever it seemed like to catch your post. I finally went to bed - and now I've gotten back up and you've posted! You're burning the midnight oil, too huh?

The size of the birds? What size should they be? I've looked at Willow, but have never purchased it.

Ya know, my clothing selection is just appalling, I should really take your advice and go thrifting for it.

Sounds like you found quite a few bargins :o) Congrats!

Here's my post.

This is the biggest thrift store I have ever seen!! How cool. Seems like there was something for everyone!!

I have a question. I have some Blue Willow. You mentioned the size of the birds indicates if it is real or not. How big are the birds supposed to be? By the way, I think they look like vultures! Aren't they creepy??

OMG! I want to come with you!!

First of all, I don't think I would have been able to pass up that step stool. And Sweetness and I maybe would have had to draw straws for the art she got her sweet little hands on.

Thanks for linking to me in absentia. :-) My GAWD was I having computer woes. Eek.

I pinky swear to hook up with you this week. ;-)
