Giveaway! Spendervention! Time to be Thrifty!

By now I’m sure you’ve all seen the funny TJ Maxx Spendervention commercials on television (click here to watch the ad). It’s the one where a group of friends get together to convince their girlfriend that they’re spending too much money at designer boutiques when they could be getting the same or comparable items at a much lesser cost if they only shopped at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Believe me, I have personally given a few of those spenderventions with some of my less than thrifty friends. All it takes is a trip to TJ Maxx or Marshall's store for convincing.

Do you need convincing too?
According to TJ Maxx & Mashalls, here are 5 reasons why off-price is the way to shop:

Buying Power - Our merchandise strategy can be summed up in two words – opportunistic buying. While other retailers buy merchandise several times a year, our buyers travel to market over forty weeks a year, sourcing from 10,000 vendors in 60 countries. These wide and frequent market trips allow us to buy closer to need and be smarter about trends. Also, because we are making deals closer to need, we are in a good position to negotiate a better price with vendors, and pass those savings along to our customers.

Unbelievable Savings - Today more than ever our buyers can negotiate even better prices with vendors due to many factors: department stores planning their inventories much lower, overbuying and then canceling orders, or designers overproducing. All these things allow us to deliver the same merchandise sold in department stores, at the same time, at much lower prices to our customers.

Product Quality - At T.J. Maxx and Marshalls our values extend to the important partnerships we have with our vendors. The vast majority of our merchandise is sourced directly from top designers and manufacturers. Over 95% of merchandise at T.J Maxx and Marshalls is the same first quality items that you would find at a department or specialty store at the same time.

Fresh Merchandise - While department stores only receive new merchandise seasonally, our stores receive more than 10,000 new items each week. When you shop at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, you’re bound to find a new, differentiated selection of merchandise with every shopping experience.

No Sale, Ever - Our reputation has been built on offering our customers an ever-changing selection of brand name family apparel at great values every day. We know customers are bombarded with “sales” and savings messages all the time. We try to keep it simple for them by offering great values every day. There is no need to wait for a sale or clip coupons.
So if you’re looking for great items at an affordable price, check out TJ Maxx & Marshalls. Your wallet will thank you!

Those are all great reasons to shop! But let me show you around myself at what I found, including Speedo Goggles for a steal. FYI-My kids are on the swim team and we go through goggles. Speedo googles are great and I can purchase them at great prices-at of all places TJ Maxx!

I also purchased myself some tablescape wares. I am always inspired by the Tablescape ladies. They rock! They are bringing back family dining! I cannot wait to show you my glass serving dispenser that I purchased for less than $10.00!

WIN IT!
In celebration of my two year anniversary of blogging (the countdown is on, see the clock on my sidebar), and thanks to these fine stores I have a $25 gift card for Marshalls to give away to one lucky shopper!

Great googley moogley did I really see black and white damask dinner plates? I have to have those!! That slide show was great.

I just love being frugal, it's more fun don't you think? The thrill of the hunt and then seeing our homes transformed into a place of beauty. Love it.

I haven't seen that commercial - maybe they don't play it here. You know I'm not good at this stuff, but you are inspiring me!

I did a spendervention on my sister (actually on both of them at different times!!). They had never shopped at goodwill, I know I couldn't believe it either!! LOL I convinced them to "just give it a try", well after the bargains they both found, they are now goodwill shoppers! Not quite as thrifty as their big sis, but goodwill shoppers none the less!

Great post and wonderful giveaway, Leigh.

I bought a pair of Lilly Pulitzer sandals, at Marshall's, last week. I figured the price to be 65% of retail. If they'd have had a pink pair in 6.5, I would have bought two pairs!!

Happy 2 year blogiversary!!

Funny timing - I just told my sister to go to TJ Maxx to look for a new summer purse/bag. She lost one recently and stopped at Coach to look - I told her she was crazy and should go to the Maxx - I saw some AWESOME designer ones there last week for about 1/4 of regular price.

I try not to go into to Marshall's cause I get in trouble. See I am addicted to dishes, dinnerware. I am in love with the black and white Damask, so here I go getting in trouble again.

My spendervention was on my teenage daughter. Once I got her into TJ Maxx or Marshalls, it was hard to get her out. Now we go there way to much, from my husband's point of view.
I also am a follower.
Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Anniversary!

First off, thanks for stopping by and commenting at Christmas Memories in My Heart. You got there too late for the first weekly giveaway of the Elf car costume. Sign-ups cut off at midnight on Wednesdays. I have another one of these that I might offer later in the month since so many seemed to like the car costume. You now have one entry in this week's drawing. Come back again or become a follower or add my red meme giveaway to your blog or give me a shout out for another chance. I am leaving all entries from week to week, so you will still be eligible for each weekly giveaway.

Now, to your blog. I just signed up as a follower. I thought I had done that earlier. I love to read it.

Great giveaway. Sign me up for my comment. I love thrifty shopping.

My great story is in my two sisters, daughter and nieces. They all used to laugh at me about thrifting, but now they all want to go with me. My niece has four children and has found that she can dress them in great clothes for a fraction of the cost and THEN resell or donate them again. She often finds designer things at resale stores, consignment stores and GW.

My other niece and sister call me when they are looking for something special. They know I will find it given a little time.

DD took the budget she had for clothes for a cruise (leaving on Sunday) and took my advice. We went to TJ Maxx, Ross and Marshalls and she only spent half of what she had budgeted. Now she has extra money for the trip.
