Thrifty Thursday-Plus a Tablescape

Welcome one, welcome all to Thrifty Thursday here in Bloggeritaville.

It's also Tablescape Thursday so it has to be a party! Tablescape Thursday is hosted by the ever gracious and lovely Susan of Between Naps on the Porch.

If you are participating in Thrifty Thursday, be sure to grab yourself a Thrifty Thursday button and let's get started! For those that don't know, Thrifty Thursday is a show and tell of sorts. It is time for you to showcase your thrifty find. It can be an old find or a new one. It might be something that you found at a thrift store, a consignment store, flea market, garage/yard sale, antique store. It's it was a thrifty find, then it meets the requirements. I am not picky, It can be a great pair of boots & a killer vintage dress, jewelry, home decor, even fishing lures. It is your thrifty find. Tell me about it. Where did you find it? What is it? What do you plan to do with it or how do you plan to use it in your home? Do you want to sell it? Thrifty Thursday's are about the thrill of the hunt...and the treasure you found. So....do show and tell!

Today I am combining my Thrifty Thursday and Tablescape Thursday. It's a Thrifty Tablescape! Last Friday I went with my dear friend, "Diva" to Mississippi to do some more cleanup on her mother's home. If you missed the info on the home, it's worth the read. Diva's childhood home is a 200 year old historical home filled with all sorts of history and antiques. It is right up my alley. Diva has been very gracious in giving me a few things from the estate. Special things. And some of these things I am using in my tablescape today. And it's thrfty because it was free, a gift from my friend Diva, dishes from my mom, and a bowl from my cousin.
The tablecloth is a blue and white tablecloth that was hand embroidered by Diva's grandmother. Just look at the time she put into it. It's a piece of art. I should've ironed it, but I ran out of time.

The napkins are actually dish towels. But I used them as a substantial napkin. Covers laps nicely. They were also from Diva's home. They are a blue and white check pattern. They perfectly coordinate with the tablecloth.

The plates are my mothers, as are the glasses.
The centerpiece is a bowl of lemons. Simple. Colorful. The bowl was a gift from my cousin Beckie.

The menu for my simple lunch is
Crazy Chicken Salad served on croissant rolls
Fruit salad
Chips
Mint Sweet Tea
and Key Lime Pie (a preview of my Foodie Friday that will run tomorrow on my recipe blog, Plates and Places)
And this, my friends, is my Thrifty Tablescape. Thank you for dropping my Bloggeritaville today! I have throughly enjoyed you visit. Be certain to leave a comment, and link up to the Thrifty Thursday party!
UPDATE!
Mr. Linky is now working, but it is not the one I usually have. If you click to add, you will see all the links. You do not have to add your name to the link when you click it.
I am also going to try and update to this post internally so you can see them all here.
Thanks! Sorry about the system malfunction! Continue to leave your direct links in comments too. THX again.

I can appreciate all the work that went into the tablecloth. I'm afraid I would be a nut case and wouldn't want anyone to get food stains on it. lol Thanks for sharing.

Pretty blue and cheery yellow lemons. That was a lot of work put into the cloth. And love the blue speckled dish.
Happy Day, Candy

Leigh,
Thanks for stopping by...where did I get the 'dishes'? Well, I keep reading about ladies getting some of their pretties at TJ MAXX (a store I don't think I have ever been in)and yesterday I had opportunity. Found some cute napkins for my gift closet, but several stores down is Ross. It is not a regular stop for me but went in to check it out. That is where the birdie things were. They probably aren't 'dishes' but I like to think outside the box. Also got a metal thingy to do a treatment over my bed...will be good for a Morph Monday post. Candy

Mr. Linky is still not showing me the love. :-) But I have a thrifty post up -- it's a thrifty trifecta, really, since my last three posts are an entire thrift-o-rama. Must be the economy guiding me. :-)

http://shorechic.blogspot.com/2009/03/what-dish.html

My grandma cross stitched and your be-YOO-ty-ful tablecloth reminds me of her. I wouldn't have that kind of patience if you paid me! And...save me a slice of key lime pie, would ya?

KBeau said...

Hi neighbor. Thanks for visiting my blog. Hope the economy hasn't treated your developer dad too badly. I didn't build a single new house all of last year, but all in all it was a pretty good year. I really love the remodeling I've been doing. Come back to visit anytime.

So pretty! I never do anything that could be considered a "tablescape". I'm lucky if I slap a runner and a centerpiece on my table. I'm impressed!

I was not able to get my act together this week to get a thrifty post up. I swear I'm thrifty, but sheesh, I have the hardest time trying to find something haha!

I love love love that you were able to receive some items from your friend - those table linens are GORGEOUS! They look so fab with the other items you have collected. Beautiful. Blue and yellow has always been a favorite color combination of mine.

You made a beautiful table with your Thrifty finds.

Hopped over here from Joys of Home and you have a lovely blog! I especially like your thrifty tablescape today. I've been collecting vintage table linens and teacup/saucer sets for a number of years and like nothing better than an excuse to haul 'em out and use 'em :-) My hubby plans on building me a skinny shelf along one long wall of our kitchen for me to display my teacup collection.
