Thrifty Treasures

Wasn't Southern Hospitality's Before and After Party fun? I think I went to every single blog to comment. I saw alot of fresh ideas and gathered alot of inspiration! In case you missed it, you can check it out here.

I have been meaning to make mention that I have updated my photography blog, Photographic Memories, with a recent portrait shoot of Kelsey. She is one of those people that I love to photograph. The camera loves her. I will be posting some other shoots that I did over the holiday's in the near future.
Also, at Plates and Places there are several recipes listed that you can mull through for some new inspiration in the kitchen. I keep forgetting to mention these blogs and so while it was fresh on my mind today, I wanted to mention.
Speaking of inspiration. I have been on a roll-especially after yesterday's before and after party coupled with the end of the holiday season. After clearing out all of our Christmas Decor I find myself doing alot of "fluffing" about my home. You know, moving stuff from here to there. I like to change things up. It is funny how different a room can look by just changing up the accessories. A fun way to do fluff is also by shopping thrift and consignments stores for some "new" looks. I made a recent trip to the thrift store. How I love that place. Aside from geocaching, it is a real treasure hunt. I had to share the treasures that I found.....
This leaded glass candle holder. Real leaded glass. A steal at $2.48
This drawer. Currently it is being used to lasso Big Daddy's umpteen remotes. Many, I have no clue what they do or are used for. But they are in the drawer. And I love the drawer and it's detailing. It cost a whopping $1.48. This photo does not do it justice. I hate a flash.
Here is the side of the drawer.

A precious white and green pumpkin/gourd. $2.48

And alas, the piece de la resistance- ironstone. A gorgeous patterned ironstone, "Olde English Countryside by Johnson Bros.
I purchased the entire set. Bowls, dinner plates, salad plates, saucers....all for a steal.
A sweet little scene of, what else? An English countryside.
I puffy heart thrifting.
What has been your favorite thrifting purchase?

Don't think I've ever been thrifting, per say - - - but I've been antiquing, and I do love that.

DROOLING over the bowls! Great find! And I can fully imagine how awesome the drawer looks, flash and all. Is is an old sewing machine drawer? The detail on the side is unusual for such a long drawer.

I love Junkin, we make a day of it when we go. But I always find a treasure. Something I can't live without. Last time it was a jar, a big olive jar. I have a friend that collects jars, it was perfect for her.
I am looking forward to getting to go, people seem to get rid of stuff after CHristmas. Don't want to put it back out or pack it up, I guess. I love the plate with the black board paint, gotta try that.

My favorite thrifting purchase was this past October, I got a really cute little yellow metal rolling cart with sides that fold up and down. The yellow is shabby enough to handle but the legs needed a fresh coat of paint. Luckily, my husband took to the task with automotive paint in white. It's fab, I'll post a photo on my blog!

I have a few old drawers that I use as decorating and a few that are great for storage in the closets. The small plates that you bought, are exactly like the plates my mom uses! We used to serve pastries at our coffeehouse on an assortment of these plates a few times a year.

Great finds!!

I was glad to get the Christmas decor put away this past weekend! Yeah, I'm that far behind! It was also nice to give the house a good clean! I'm like you! I like changing things up! That is what I'm doing this coming weekend! Well, that and DRESS shopping!!!! =) I'm going dress shopping with two of my g-friends some where in Houston! =) Then I think we might make it a date and go see that new wedding movie that just came out!!!!!

I puffy heart thrifting, too! I have so many thrifts that I love it's hard to pick just one. Or ten, for that matter. :-)

I love your ironstone...Ooooo...I would love to have a full set like that. Congratulations on a well done thrift with that one!
