Tami Ellis, Artist

About a year ago, I stumbled upon an extraordinary artist. Her name is Tami Ellis. She resides in Louisiana and many of her pieces reflect the love and pride of her surroundings. Ellis uses a paintbrush that is infused with the rich colors of the region, she couples that by incorporating elements such as old window frames, screen doors, mardi gras beads and coins and various other items into her artwork.
Ellis’ artwork promotes the feel of New Orleans and Louisiana. I could hear the music playing by just viewing her work. The colors are so vibrant and free flowing-just like a Mardi Gras band in a parade. I was equally thrilled to see that the blues and jazz music is almost audible coming from Ellis’ artwork. I too grew up loving that music. It is so rich and has so much flavor of life in it.
Ellis’ work sells at various prices-from the thousands for the true art collector, to that as little as $20.00 for a matted 11"x14" or a 8"x10" hand painted mat for the person that wants something special and one of a kind.
