Ah, hemmmm! (Standing on my soapbox) Excuse me. I have to vent a bit..... It is regarding something that has really gotten under my skin. Charging for condiments at restaurants. Condiments, people! This most recently happened to my family at Papa Saia's. It is a place we dine regularly. All of the guys in the family need a hot wing fix and this is where we almost always go. Typically one will at least get one condiment (ranch, blue cheese, honey mustard) with a wing meal , but not at Saia's. They charge 50 cents per cup of a condiment.
And I have noticed that Papa Saia's is not alone, many restaurants have started charging. Ask for an extra side of salad dressing- cha-ching. Ask for some honey mustard for french fries, cha-ching. It is ridiculous. If you are paying for a meal, the condiments should be included. I mean, Big Daddy shouldn't have to pay to top his burger! That should be complimentary to the food we are purchasing. It isn't as if we have a straw sucking it out of the bottle. We use a tablespoon, maybe two. If I knew what I could do to take a stand for condiment lovers, I would. But for now, I am venting on my blog.
It is downright wrong. Let me have ketchup, let me have dressing on my salad, give me mustard...but do NOT charge me 50 cents and up for using it. If I am purchasing the food the dressings should be complimentary. Now, look the other way when I smuggle, out of my purse, syrup for my pancakes, or ketchup for my fries, even my own salad dressing...
Shame on you Restaurant Owners!!!!
