Tree of Life

On Saturday a group of friends and I went to Art Buzz for a painting class. Our subject on this day was titled "The Tree of Life", which was a whimsical painting of a tree with all kinds of objects and shapes displayed within the tree. Here is the "model drawing" that we sort of went by.

But like all great works, we each took our respective trees in a direction to reflect our own personalities. Some people added trees, some, shapes such as circles and squares, Courtney even had big bold flowers throughout her tree.We were very lucky, because the class on Saturday's is usually full, but this Saturday, it was just our group. A private party painting class and we didn't even have to pay extra. Our teacher, Elise was so kind and patient with our group. The class is very informal and allows it's customers, er artist, to bring in a drink of choice and any snacks. Each of us brought a snack to share, we had a fruit bowl, spinach dip and crackers, petifores (For Courtney's birthday party) and the cheeseball from hell. Which , as formentioned in the post prior to this one, what the price was on the cheeseball, A cure sign that I sould have listened to. I still bought it. When I got to the art studio and broke open the wrapper with much glee and anticipation I found that the cheeseball had H-A-M!! in it. I am a vegetarian. It made no mention of ham. None. See the label again (prior post). False advertising. I was crushed. But yet, I should have known. I was forwarned by the numbers. It was a certain sign of sinful fat grams and artery clogging agents packaged so neatly inside that container.......Back to the paint class.....
We all began working on our trees and their trunks. After that we began to fill in drawing from our personalities. Each of them turned out wonderfully, I think. I can certinaly say that it has been much to long since I have laughed as much as I did yesterday. I have said it before and I will say it again, I am so blessed with the friendships I have. I have a group of friends where there are no judgements, no jealously (except painting envy and that was limited), everyone is accepting of one another and there is much laughter.

We are already planning the next trip to Art Buzz. ("Us" First row Left to Right: Leigh, Kym, Flo Second row: Courtney, Charnita, Sharon)

I had the best time. I haven’t laughed that much in a long time.
My family has made all manner of fun of my painting, but I hung it in the kitchen anyway. Well kind of the laundry room hall, but nevertheless, visible.
Everyone was so welcoming and fun and hilarious…..Thanks for including me.
Hope to see you again soon.

Hey Leigh, thank you so much for sending the pictures.
We are in the middle of updating the website. Your pictures will be on there so keep a look out. I enjoyed your group of friends. They seemed like people that I would hang out with on a regular basis.
I had a lot of fun!
