Saturday was a busy day. Among other things, Big Daddy and I took Sister Sledge and J Smooth to the assisted living home to have Christmas Brunch (sponsored by the facility) with Big Daddy's maternal grandmother. While the visit was nice it gets tougher and tougher to see our sweet Grandma who continues to loose pieces of herself due to the memory debilitating disease of dementia/Alzheimer's. While Peg still knows her
family, she gets more and more confused. The lovely story teller she once was is now silenced and left to mumble in her own world. We are blessed to have her in our lives and she seems
genuinely happy when the children come to see her. She has an especially close connection to Sledge who she calls, "My most beautiful cheerleader". I am happy that she finds those moments dear. It is
up setting when she tells me that her days are numbered, but I think that is both getting to a point in life where you are just "tired" as she says, as well as possibly
connected to the disease. For now, we
enjoy the memories and count our
blessing to have her in our lives. Our grandma-who always was the life of the party. She still is to us.
