Tornado Fury

My Sweet Friends,

Thank you to those who have sent emails/messages regarding our family in Alabama and in particular Tuscaloosa (where my son, "Bama" goes to college and my brother in law -aka "The Artist" and sister in law live with their 2 boys)I am counting my blessings today. Everyone of my family is accounted for. This was Bama's second brush of a close call with a tornado.

Two weeks ago, the tornado hit his area, imagine a u shape-it being where the tornado hit, Bama's apartment sat inside the u, protected. No damage. He hid in a closet with his neighbors below (his apartment is on 2nd floor). Yesterday was even closer. He is a block and half from University Mall, this is the location of where many of you are seeing the images on television. There is a building next to his complex in which all windows were blown out, beyond that ...well...its what you are seeing on TV, complete devastation and destruction. At Bama's complex-there is debris from the EF5 tornado, but  as far as the tornado itself doing damage to his apartment....nothing. Not even windows were blown out, and yet a block away, nothing stands. NOTHING.  After the EF5 yet another tornado came through and literally went above his apartment, not ever touching down. He has spoken with most of his friends, all safe.

The video below was shot in the parking lot of the mall, behind the person shooting is a park, then Bama's apartment.

The others seen on the link below, many were what I saw live on the news. It was sickening.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/videos-of-the-tuscaloosa-tornado

God was truly with my son, "Bama" as well as many others. I am certain the presence of God was beside Bama and other students as they huddled together in the closet of a first floor neighbor.

Our local news stations were phenomenal in getting the message across early in the day! The forecast was for a severe outbreak, a forecast that is not commonly seen in Alabama. That was followed by all day and all night coverage of the tornado's and their aftermath. I cannot say enough for our local meteorologist and TV stations, who if not for them, the death toll would be even higher.

I am praising God and His divine grace today. I know others were not as fortunate my heart aches for them ...like my friend Kim's family, who lost their family home...their story is like so many, and even others who have lost so much more....lives. There are simply no words.....My heart aches for you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who have lost loved ones and property due to the devastation of this tremendous disaster. I plan to volunteer to help next week and do what I can, however small it might be. I can't just sit idle in this chaos.  I volunteered during Hurricanes Ivan and Hurricane Katrina, the images I am seeing are so similar, if not more. I am not trying to belittle anyone else's personal experience with disaster. Know that. I am just going by images (which I have been told do it no justice) and by my son's first hand account. It is as if so many of the areas simply "exploded". I am so very, very sad...but yet I celebrate for what was spared. Such bittersweet emotions.....But above all God is GREAT and I trust and put my faith in Him.

Thank you again for your prayers and concern. Your friendship is truly a gift!
Another reason why blogging is wonderful.....YOU! Really. YOU.
(Truly) Live*Laugh*Love
XOXO,
Leigh

I'm Not Worthy But I'll Take a Stab by Anon (take a guess...)

For "Beach Week" I am re running some "Best of Post" including this one from my Blogger friend, Dullbert. This post first ran on 7/16/08

First a Mea culpa:
I was always pretty sure that bloggers were the same people that belonged to the "people that needed to get a life" club. Then on a lark I threw together a blog a started posting stuff that I thought was amusing and light.

As with most new blogs the comments were few and far between and then some "regulars" started stoping by. Over time without ever meeting these people you begin to realize these are some good, intelligent and descent people just having some fun (you do get the occasional "drive by" wackjob).

Leigh was one of the first ones to comment on my blog because she "got it", I do nothing heavy just some absurd commentary on the popular culture and daily events. Leigh and some of you blog about anything and everything (probably not everything !) that goes on in your life and that's cool . After reading Leighs blog for awhile you quickly realize she's definitely "got a life" I choose to post anonymously and am flattered that she asked me to participate as a "guest blogger" this week.

Now I know what Leno felt like subbing for Carson (was going to say Joan Rivers but I don't want to know what that feels like). I do have a suspicion it must be sweeps week in the blogging world why else would she bring in the heavy hitters like me - ha !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now most of you visit Leighs blog to get a heavy dose of food tips, shopping , travel suggestions and hair talk.
So in trying maintain the spirit of Leighs blog let me offer the following:

1.) A Restaurant Review- Taco Bell-Just throw a dart at the menu it DOESN'T MATTER what you order it all tastes the same just cover it in plenty of sauce to mask the taste of the actual food. Total price about 3 bucks .. spike in cholesterol priceless !

2.) A Recipe- Ramen noodles-boil some water throw the noodles in for 3 minutes add the seasoning and wa-la .. for the deluxe version add a saltine WOW !! A bit pricey though at about a dime per serving but worth it.

3.) Hair Tips - Never underestimate the importance of a good Flowbee and just the right cereal bowl. I wash it , I dry it , I put a hat on . Come on you can't get the Pete Rose look without a little effort !

4.) Day Trip/Shopping-I know Leigh is all about consignment shops and weird little stores in the middle of nowhere but you really ought to try a visit to your local landfill. Talk about good deals it's all FREE and some days depending on what you stumble across you can help local law enforcement solve a crime !

Now let me leave you with this interesting fact:
Studies show that like Leigh this country has nearly 10 million vegetarians which means that there are still over 290 million normal people :)

Leigh thanks for the invite hope I don't kill your readership !

HUGE Hearts

Daily I am taken aback at the kindness, generosity and beautiful spirits of bloggers. But the past week, the random acts of kindness have been directed to me. My blessings over runneth and I am so touched!
I recently returned from a beach trip, where I had a wonderful visit with two precious bloggers, who I am honored to count as friends, Kristin of The Goat and Jennifer of Dust Bunny Hostage. I shared some photos of our visit on my Picture a Day blog as well as a Bloggeritaville post. But I didn't share what Jennifer gave to me (as well as Kristin) after our visit....
This jar of thread on wooden spools. She went on to talk about your friendships, being like that thread. The strength and beauty in it. It was a beautiful sentiment and I am so appreciative. Thank you, Jennifer. I just adore you! You ARE like that thread to me! And I love the ties that bind us....our friendship.

And speaking of precious people, I wanted to thank blogger, Jane of Mamie Jane for thinking of me as she was out thrifting. She came across some lettered "B: items and remembered me mentioning how I have had a hard time finding those. Apparently there are alot of people out there whose last names begin with "B". Jane sent me a box of B treasures......a beautiful bowl and some silver spoons, including a sweet note inside. Jane, your kindness is immeasurable, your thoughtfulness so appreciated. Jane, I feel a kindred spirit with you in your sentimentality and these treasures are certainly ones that are precious to me and meaningful, not just because they are "B's" but because you thought kindly and sent them to me.

Jessica of Thoughts of a Bama Belle is such a special friend to me. We met through blogging and quickly became real life friends. When I mentioned my giveaways, she so graciously offered to do the monogram  of the Vintage Monogrammed Jar. She sponsored  the winning initial and she also gave me my own initial as well as an ALABAMA vinyl monogram which is perfect to share my spirit for my favorite team, and where my money...and son goes to college. So sweet.
Jess is one of those people who never comes or allows you to go empty handed. Whether it's a serving of her homemade dumplings, a jar of her aunt's best blueberry jam or a box of chocolates, Jessica has made it her point in life to make others feel special. You can see that by visiting her blog, where she often shares her family recipes and incredible and well thought tablescapes. I don't think there is much "mundane" in her home. She celebrates life and I LOVE THAT!
Jessica is getting ready to make a move from my hometown of Helena to the Gulf Coast, where she will live in close proximity to Jenn, DBH. While I will miss Jess terribly, I celebrate this new chapter in her life and the life of her family and know she has a friend already there waiting in the wings. Life is grand like that.

And finally, I want to thank Mama Joy. Mama Joy does not have a blog of her own, but she reads Bloggeritaville very often. She will sometimes email and offer advice of thrifty finds or things to do, etc. She is also a precious soul in my life. And my life is better for it. On Saturday she gave me this copper cuff bracelet with a brass butterfly and oyster shell inlay on the wings.
"A thrifty find that I found at a garage sale and I immediately thought of you!!"
How kind! And how nice it is to be "thought of". Thank you, MJ!

Thank you, Jenn, Jane, Jessica and Joy (Wow! Something about the J's?)  for thinking of me. I appreciate you each and every one and love your huge hearts.
Many, many Thanks. My heart is full with your friendship.
Thank you.

Link LOVE.

I wanted to give a couple of my blogger friends some link love today.

My friend, Keetha of the Eclectic Company held a contest about this precious lady:

Her name is Lady Catherine Rose Sitzalone, but she was known to her friends simply as Miss Kitty Rose.
Keetha asked her readers to help name Kitty Rose, but her readers went beyond that...they gave her a story. A beautiful story at that. This is a story to be shared, a story of love & misfortune, over coming adversity and continuing the dance of life (in more ways than one). I am in love. In love with the story. In love with the lady, Lady Catherine Rose Sitzalone, and well, Keetha already knows that I love her.

I too am honored to be listed as a contributor, though small as my contribution was, I am thrilled to be a part of her story.

You can find the story of  aka. Miss Kitty Rose by clicking here.
I would appreciate it if you would please tell Miss Kitty Rose that her friend, Leigh sent you. Thanks!

``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Also, you will want to pay a visit to my friend, Jessica of Thoughts of a Bama Belle. She is hosting a giveaway on her blog. She is giving away a fabulous gift basket of bath products.
You can enter by clicking here. Please tell her that Leigh sent you. I would so appreciate it.
With Gratitude....
I love this time of year! I love going to the mailbox and finding it loaded with Christmas greetings and pictures of people who I adore. It's nice to not actually find bills, but blessings. Which was just the case recently. My mailbox had been filled with Blogger love...
Dawn of a Cottage State of Mind was so thoughtful and sent me one of her Thrifty Thursday finds, this precious yellow bird bowl. I just adore it Dawn! And how thoughful of you to give it to me. I will cherish it and think of you when I eat my grits! Smile.
Dawn included a sweet little note on the back of a card with a tiny little fork and spoon on it. I now have it on my refrigerator. Precious!
Barb of The French Elements blog hosted a giveaway. I was the lucky winner! I was thrilled because everything that Barb creates are heirlooms.  I won a flour sack tea towel that has been embrodered with a evergreen Christmas tree and gifts underneath. It has a place in my guest bathroom.Photobucket
I also won this Linen pillow embrodered with the words, "Joy". I have it sitting on my couch. It's just adorable and so colorful. Barb is the creator of The French Elements. You can find these beauties and more for sale over at her blog. They'd make perfect Christmas gifts!
I want to thank Kristin of The Goat, for sending me and Big Daddy a sweatshirt and  t-shirts from "Scooter Planet". I love different t-shirts, from differnt places. Thanks Kristin for your generosity!! We have worn our shirts everywhere!
And thanks to those who have sent Christmas cards! I just enjoy receiveing them and appreciate your thoughfulness. I save all my cards, year after year. Its nostalgic to look at years past and recall with fondness our friends. Thankyou!
My "Frans" and a GIVEAWAY update
I used to do a weekly post called "meet my Frans" (you can find it on my sidebar in archives) It was a post in which I "introduced" some friends on my bloglist on my sidebar. Frans of course was short for friends, and it was also for the slang southern verbal usage for the word when pronounced. It was a fun meme, but one that I just have not done in so long. Today I am doing a somewhat similar post...I do want you to "Meet my Frans" and visit the following blogs and links below. I promise you will come away with perhaps a great new blog to read, a new friend, a new product to love, or someone to add to your personal prayer list. The reasons and possibilities are actually endless. So I do hope you will take the time to pay a visit and meet...."my frans".
My sweet friend Amy is starting her own business! It is called, A-Z Goodies, specializing in baby gifts. Amy was a vendor at a huge children's consignment event in Rogers (AR) and plan to have a booth at a craft fair in Springdale in May. She has created a website, and has some wonderful products ranging from wet wipe cases and burp cloths to tutus and hair accessories. I encourage you to check out her site, for some great buys as well as to show her some love and encouragement as she gets her new business up and going. Remember Amy when you attend your next baby shower! The website address is: http://www.a-zgoodies.com/ Save it as one of your favorites!
Misti of Studio M Designs and Deocrating has some great new items in her Etsy Store. They are called "sknobs". What are sknobs, you ask? Sknobs are these great little hand painted (by Misti!) knobs that are personal and decorative. They are knobs, as used in furniture, cabinets, I would use some as curtain pull backs! Be sure to check out her store for sknobs and anything else that the creative decorator Misti has in stock.
Mid Atlantic Martha showed how to create a christening gown from a wedding dress, in the most sentimental craft post.
CLICK HERE and go vote for my my friend, Lindsey's little girl, Harper Jane, in a photography contest. You may vote once EVERY day.
My friend Tracy shared this recipe for Easter cookies on her blog, My cup Runneth over. It is perfect to make with your children and teach them the story of salvation.
My friend Mari recently waved goodbye to her son Andy, after a brief break he is back to serve his country. Be sure to swing by and tell Mari how we appreciate her son.
My fran Rhoda is giving away a HP Wireless Photosmart C6380 Printer. Be sure to visit her blog and enter. If I don't win it, I sure hope you do!
Be sure to go to the bird sanctuary (Target) and get some "Birds for Holiday"! Then you can see where the birds take you on April 15th (Read all about it here). This is a fun carnival hosted by Susan of Between Naps on the Backporch. An FYI to the girls in the Ham......I couldnt find any at the Target in Alabaster. I hope to score some today at another location.
This is a big one! I am so excited......the Hannah Montana movie comes out today! Yes, it's true I do love Miss Montana/Miss Cyrus (I cannot stop from singing the song "Fly on the Wall"). But it's not Miley that I am excited about, it's my friend Chesney!!!
You might recall Chesney. She was my hip hop dance instructor....
You remember this? And this? (open in another window)
Well I had also mentioned she had gotten a role in the up and coming Hannah Montana movie. Chesney was cast to play in a scene with Miley Cyrus, Tyra Banks and Vanessa Williams.
A debut trailer for 'Hannah Montana - The Movie' has been released. The film toplines Miley Cyrus, Mitchel Musso and Billy Ray Cyrus. Photo Credit: Walt Disney Pictures
Chesney is cast as a shoe clerk in a department store (I think she said it was Barney's). Anyway, when you take those little girls of yours to the movie, be sure to look out for Chesney. I am really, really proud and excited for her.
Just for old times sake, Here is Ches in action:
You go, Chesney! I know your hometown of Huntsville and the UAB Dance Team will be cheering you on as well! We are all proud of you! You go girl!
FYI-Today on my recipe blog, Plates and Places are all the recipes that were used in the Picnic Tablescape post that ran yesterday are all posted over there. Check it out.
Finally, speaking of goodies......Monday is the day I have been teasing you all about. It's the day I announce the giveaway and the day you can enter. Be certain to tune in on Monday for the details of what and how to win!
****Did you know that this week is the actual calendar week that holy week fell on? It has really been something to resonate with me the story of forgiveness and sacrifice. And today, as we expect storms, I think of the great storm the brewed after Christ was nailed to the cross. He shed his love for thee!!! It's almost hard to wrap my head around the sacrifice and love for sinners such as myself. I hope you have a blessed Easter.
Thanks to all of you for dropping by Bloggeritaville. It's all about YOU! New & Old, Real & Virtual....My Frans! Thanks ! Have a wonderful Easter weekend.
May God Continue to Bless you.
Meeting a Dust Bunny Hostage at Big Daddy's Grill
"Do you think she will ever find this place?" I asked my mother. Leave it to me to pick a meeting spot out in the boonies. Or to me, it was the boonies, as I was unfamiliar with the area. It was quite possible that "she" might think I might try put her in a trunk. That would be my thought of meeting someone you haven't come face to face with. Someone I met on the Internet, no less. But I had nothing to fear, I was meeting the ever delightful, witty, ocean blue eyed Dust Bunny Hostage!
My mother and I had spent the first part of the day exploring Fairhope Alabama. I had been told that there was a restaurant on the Fish River of Fairhope called Big Daddy's. To me, it was a likely & obvious meeting spot. You all know that I am partial to a Big Daddy. I had looked at the Big Daddy's Grill web site before we left, so I had directions to the place. It didn't seem that far out, not until we began passing farms, patches of thick woods, and telephone poles that held the names of several families that lived down the roads in which the poles stood. Surely, she would find it? Yeah, right.
Somehow, mom and I managed to. Surely, Jennifer would? After some time, we pulled right up to it, a insignificant little one story wooden building that spread out along the river bank like a octopus with it's decks and overflows.
We walked past the motorcycle parking.
Past the huge children's sandbox (that had my son, J Smooth's name "written all over it").
To Inside, where I immediately spotted out the back door, the Dust Bunny herself at a picnic table out on the covered deck area. I felt as though I was meeting a rock star, or someone that I had long admired, someone I mentored myself after....and in all reality (which is funny to say, when you live in the world of Bloggeritaville) was true. Jennifer, Dust Bunny Hostage was and is all of those things. She is just as delightful, engaging and witty as she is at Dust Bunny Hostage, the place where she resides in all of blogland. We spent almost two hours talking about everything from the trials and tribulations of being a vegetarian (she is not, but her daughter is traveling the road I have been on much of my life) to the potential possibility that I might be some bloggy weirdo (I had introduced her to my mother as my body guard, in the case she might've tried to put me in a trunk, as well as my photographer...you KNOW I would need someone to snap all the glorious shots of this momentous meeting) to the people we have in common. Those people in the "real world" and those who live in the "Blog world". We discussed many of you reading this here post. The feeling is mutual, we love you all and feel so blessed to be a part of this little world of blogging, and were wishing we could've shared the day with you too.
But that was not to be on this such day. Jen, mom and I made the best of it by enjoying great conversation and a good meal. Big Daddy's Grill is a great place for a cheeseburger along the paradise that is the Fish River (which is what Jennifer ordered). It is also a place where you can get a good basket of jumbo shrimp, which is what my mom determined. I love the atmosphere. I love little local hole in the wall places that are built on dedication and the practise of making food a religious experience. You got that at Big Daddy's Grill. The fellowship of locals, who call one another by name, and the practise of preparing food that makes one savor each bite.
Aside from my lunch companions, who I enjoyed immensely, I also got a big kick out of the menu and it's philosophies behind the fine dining establishment....
(click to enlarge)
Who couldn't love a place that request "no cussin", that you leave your shirt on ("because you ain't as fine as your momma told you") and that you pick up after your pets. There's a certain charm in that. It's a place where I felt right at home. I love it!
After our lunch, that went by much to quickly, we were getting up to leave and have our impromptu photography session, when the assistant manager, who called himself "Little Daddy", introduced himself to us. As it turns out, he and Jennifer *sort of* knew one another. They both attended the same small college and frequented many of the same places in that small town.
He readily offered up his own photography services to snap a picture of the three of us for preservation and documentation of the big day.
What a delightful day (so delightful it was worthy of it's own theme music, you can listen to over at Jen's blog)!! I found another fun place to eat at Big Daddy's......
And I got to come face to face with Jen, the one that has been "with me" blog wise for the last two years (almost). Jen was the second commenter I had (second only to the notorious Hewy of No Sleep in Helena.) I had no idea, really, what a blog even was back then. I had made my own as a challenge to my computer illiterate self. Over the past two years, Jen and I have emailed back and forth, we have prayed together, we have spoke over the telephone....and now on this day....I had a real live meeting with someone I find very special. One that I consider a friend.
My only regret of the day...that they were out of Big Daddy T-shirts! I wanted to get one for my own Big Daddy. The restaurant, Little Daddy promised that there would be some coming in soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Aside from that little let down, It is a perfect day! Indeed!
If you ever find yourself at Big Daddy's Grill, tell them Leigh sent cha!
You can read the Dust Bunny Hostage's post about our meeting here and I can guarantee you will find her as witty, engaging and delightful as I do.
**You can find more photography taken at Big Daddy's Grill, as well as other interesting places at my Smug Mug Site. **
-----------------------------------
as a sidenote, after seeing how dishelved I had allowed myself to become, I went and bought myself a haircut, as seen in my profile picture. You know I am always fretting over finding a new do...it seems I just keep going back to varied versions of that cut. Oh, well. It does look a bit better than the longer version. Anyway....
Meet My Frans...And Spread some bloggy LOVE their way!
Hello Frans in Bloggeritaville! It's Tuesday, and Tuesday is Meet My Frans!Here are my frans for this week that I want to introduce you to...
Brian's Photo Blog- I have known Brian for quite sometime. Brian is one of the kindest folks you would ever want to meet. He always has a great story to tell....and he loves to listen to one too. We have something in common, the love of a good story, the facination of weather and a love for story teller, Kathryn Tucker Windham. I met Brian years ago through my cousin, Gina as well as through working as a co director for the non profit organization WHIM. I could always count on Brian. When I asked if he would be involved in something we were working on all he would say would be "what time do I need to be there!". He and a Gina work for the same television station. Brian is a meteorologist for local TV station ABC 3340. He is also the president of Alabama Skywarn Foundation. The Alabama SKYWARN Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Alabama and has been granted tax-deductible status by the IRS (501(c)3). The purpose of the Foundation is to promote severe weather awareness and preparedness in Alabama through a variety of activities. It is my hope that Brian will one day consider a run for a political office-and I tell him that each time I see him. For the time being though, he nixes my ideas. I wanted to feature Brian's photo blog because Brian has a real talent there and his occupation is one that is conducive at times to feed that hobby even more. Brian hasn't given much attention to this blog lately, but he promises that he will in the near future. Visit him and give him some encouragement to give that blog proper attention!
Psych Ward-Well if your last name is Ward, you can have a really cool blog name like Psych Ward. And this is just what the clever Susan ,one of the newest joys to the blogging world, came up with! Susan is the sister of my friend Terri (Bama Bargains & Confessions of a Yarn Whore). Susan is sweet mom to sweet family. She describes herself as "Wife, Mother, sometimes patient but mostly "Nurse Ratched"!! " She goes to say that she's, "A "girl" who loves to decorate her house (when money is around), cook for her family (and then some), be with her hubby, watch her girl play soccer, talk to and have a glass of wine or beer with her friends, read fabulous chick-lit, listen to some good music and laugh ALOT!!! "She's a teacher in the school system. She and I share love for blueberries! She is featured in this commercial ("talk, talk, talk")! Go by the Psyche Ward and give Susan some confidence from the blog world on her new endeavor, blogging.
Greek Grits- This sista describes herself as "a Southern gal who is particularly proud of my Greek heritage. Most importantly I am a Christian who believes that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. I am a wife to a fabulous husband, mother of two beautiful children and a full time nurse anesthetist. I love my family and my job, but staying at home is not an option for my sanity. This is a place where family and friends keep up with us. It's also a place where I occasionally wax eloquent about nothing, er, umm, random things." Greek Grits is a homegirl, from the state of Bama. She is just about half an hour up the road from me...and as it turns out we have people in common....Patty that I went to high school with. Small world. Patty's blog is creative, clever, funny and real! Go, visit this GRIT (girl raised in the south) and show her some love.
Tune in next week to allow me to introduce you to some more of my "frans" from Bloggeritaville. Until then, go forth and visit some new blogs, make some new frans, and tell them that Leigh (of Bloggeritaville) sent ya!But always remember to come back here and pay a visit. You know, I run my thoughts off each day and I always enjoy knowing you dropped in on the lunacy in my world.
My Fran T-Ray
I plan to continue my "Meet My Frans" Post. Though, I have gone through my whole blogroll, as I did it I added more frans that deserve attention. Today I wanted to shed a special "spotlight" on my fran T-Ray. Think the solid gold spotlight dance on the dancer that deserved some recognition. Today is Terri's spotlight.
Sure, I blogged about her before. But in a few quick sentences I don't think one can fully appreciate the appreciation I have for T-Ray. Besides, I have been promising this post for weeks now.
I met T-ray in my Adult hip hop class a year ago. (Spotlight dance) There was an immediate kinship. We are both quirky. We both openly lacked in the groove department. But we both could openly laugh at that fact and ourselves in doing it. It made dance class fun for me. While my friend Diva Flo is a natural, with me standing between Diva and T-ray, it was a comedic moment at it's best. Think a class with Ginger Rogers dancing alongside Lucy and Ethel.
Over the last year, I have grown to know T-ray outside of a dance class. She is a giver. Authentic. And loyal. She is always thinking of others. Even her career choice, was a natural choice. She is a licensed massage therapist. I mean, quite frankly, could there be anymore pleasure than a deep massage? What better a way to melt cares, concerns and knots away than by her hand.
T-ray is a good listener. I say blueberries, she produces. I say I like chocolate, she gives me the DL on where to get some good chocolate for free. She knows I like music, again.....a free coupon for Itunes. No, she isn't trying to buy my affection. She knows I love her. T-ray is just a serious and dedicated tightwad. That I can appreciate. She knows I want that house down on St George Island and the only way to get it is to scrimp.
Again, another similarity in us. Yet, she knows I haven't the patience for clicking here and there and everywhere in search for a bargain. Just tell me......and thus a blog was born. Bama Bargains. Where people like me could go and find the most amazing deals. Quite simply put, "IT ROCKS!"
I have gotten a multitude of goodies by way of T-Ray's blog. There are to many to list individually, but most notably my free Willie Nelson's Greatest Hits CD by way of Tylenol Arthritis and Leg Pain, then there was the Free Chicken Sandwich I gave to Bama. And lets just say my inbox was full on my birthday from several websites wanting to wish me a happy day by offering me all kinds of freebies, from food to Sepora makeup. You can go to her blog, Bama Bargains and see those listed on her left sidebar. You can register too. You really should.
Aside from all of this greatness, Terri is also a skilled and serious knitter, as documented on her "other" blog, "Confessions of a Yarn Whore". On that blog she documents everything from knitting to her own life experiences.
T-ray is just one great lady. She's special. She my frannnnnn. And I luv her. Especially cuz she doesn't laugh at my dancing. And I don't laugh at hers. We laugh together.
Visit her. Now.
Meet My Frans......
Hello Frans in Bloggeritaville! It's Tuesday, and Tuesday is Meet My Frans!
Here are my frans for this week that I want to introduce you to...
a schmitty life -True. Mrs. Schmitty does look much like a cartoon character....that is because she IS a character! No. Not in the literal sense but figuratively speaking. She is a mother of three children, Mrs. Schmitty's material draws from her own life experiences. But it is the manner, the emphatic way that she writes that keeps me coming back for more. She is honest. She is genuine. She is funny. She minces no words on her feelings and I can appreciate that. On her blog you will find humor and serious subjects, like her friend Katie. That I posted about on my own blog.
Abbey's Road -Abbey was one of the ones that was early on my list, which at the time contained mostly local bloggers. I had no clue how to even find other bloggers then. LOL! She is an old hippie, that can spin a tale. Her gift is in her writing.She loves music, (like me) and she is particularly fond of the Beatles....hence the blog name.
abbylanehinton -The adorable Abbylanehinton. She is beauty, she is youth, she glows. And all of this can be contributed to the love she has in her heart for her savior. What can I say, that she doesn't say in her own bio, which I love..."I love my friends. I love when you can feel a song in your soul. I love writing--but not for school. A good latte rocks my face off. I love that a whisper from God is stronger than anything the devil could throw my way. I love chocolate. I wear flip flops in the winter. Daisies are my favorite flower. I love black and white pictures. My best friend is twice my age, twice as beautiful, and makes me want to love the Lord twice as hard. I love ice cream and crunchy cereal...in the same bowl. I have dreams and a purpose only my heart knows. I am rescued, redeemed, freed from my self, and in pursuit of the only one who can satisfy my soul. Christ is life. " I couldn't have said it any better. She is inspiring. In her words you find her zest for life and for the Lord contagious. Check her out!
Tune in next week to allow me to introduce you to some more of my "frans" from Bloggeritaville. Meet My "Frans"....
Hello Frans in Bloggeritaville! It's Tuesday, and Tuesday is Meet My Frans!
Here are my frans for this week that I want to introduce you to...
Big Mama -Big Mama is one cool mama. She's the kind of person that if you met you just would want to be friends with. She is always having the coolest promos on her blog. Like her spring fashion fiesta, for example. Her writing style is unique and real. Raw. Like a mother. A real mother. In the literal sense. Just read all about Big Mama. Tell me you don't like her. I will tell you that you don't like no-body.
Bird on a Wire -Debbie is one of my newest frans. Bird on a Wire is clever. She's cool. And she is the head of the Kudzu Queens. Bird on a Wire is, the "Musings of a Dot Mom Mogul. Over educated, Under Appreciated, Author, Life Coach and Yeah, A Mommy Blogger". Quite interesting and fun reading! Great blog.
Bless Our Nest -Shannon is nice enough to give home tours of her precious little abode. As well as taking her readers along with her shopping. Her favorite store, Oops. Yes, Oops. And I am awfully jealous because there is not an Oops in my town. When I saw the mercury glass cups for eighty some odd cents....well, you'll be jealous too. Shannon describes her blog as, "I am a Christian, a wife of four years, and a house enthusiast. I love to decorate my home and make it a comfortable place to live. I love looking at other blogs for design ideas. All of your wonderful blogs inspired me to start my own. This blog is for design inspiration and every now and then about our family." Got to love this cutie pie!
Bunny Bungalow -Bunny has a beautiful blog in which you feel like you are thumbing through the pages of Southern Lady Magazine. She has great decorating ideas. She is a yard sale, thrifter like I am and she sells her finds The Bunny Hop Shop. Where do you think I got my idea for my sale blog, "Baby's Gone Shoppin'? And don't forget she is having a cool giveaway, http://thebunnysbungalow.blogspot.com/2008/07/its-giveaway-time.html. Tell her Leigh sent ya, will you?
Meet My "Frans"....
Hello Frans in Bloggeritaville! Thanks for tuning into another episode of "Meet My Frans" This week's Frans are listed below...
Bye Bye Pie Pie is a blog that is clever written. Pie doesn't have children. She has pets-well not "pets" they are fur babies! . And ya know me? Enough said. I love her blog. She's witty and has a great attitude. And I tune in.
Casa De Jules- Mrs. Jules resides at Casa De Jules. Yes, it is a fabulous as it sounds. Think, french decor with a modern twist, think roses in silver cups, think poetry and well written verse, and gourmet food to die for. Think travels and new discoveries. Think of a woman who loves her Lord and her family. It's what I think of when I think of Mrs. Jules. Mrs. Jules is a dear of a hon, with a gaw-jussss family.
Charnita's Expressions- Love Charnita. Charnita sent me the sweetest email. She claimed to be "my first stalker". I can appreciate that since that was how I lured in ole Big Daddy. Besides stalking before it was uncool, Charnita and I have so much in common. She is from Albertville (which is close to my mother's old stomping grounds). She and I share a love for Guntersville, Bon Jovi, Photography, traveling, eating, and traditions/family...oh! and gnomes! And she is a hometown girl. A home girl, if you will. But the similarities end when the subject turns to cooking. Which I think would be a great post. I love to cook, and I have been wanting to take a cooking class at Jeff State. When I do, I am taking Charnita along for comedic relief if nothing else. Charnita and I have met up a few times for lunch and for art class. She is so fun to be around. I am so glad that she "stalked me" because now I stalk her blog too.
Chatting at the Sky- Secret. This precious blog belongs to sister of The Nester. I guess it really isn't a secret, bet I betcha didn't know it just looking at my distraction list. From there they don't look alike, but They both have the uncanny ability to turn nothing into something. Perfect example is new house. See her before and after.
and her laundry room before and after. She even has a workstation in there! That's what I'm talking about. She can see the diamond in the rough and make it shine. She is a wonderful writer and has a way to pull her readers in, whether it is decorating or discovering forgotten toys. She describes herself as a house-loving, bargain-hunting mother of 3 little ones who secretly wishes I were a dancer. She loves creamy coffee, her good-smelling man, a clean kitchen and a nicely painted wall. She is sometimes tricked into believing that she has to be amazing and perfect while saving the world. She is learning what it means to trust Jesus to be Himself in and through ones self. She delights in finding the holy moments in the midst of everyday life. What's not to like about this chick?
Confessions of a Yarn Whore- This is my friend Terri. That is her in the pink. Terri and I are actually in the same adult hip hop class (thus the picture). That is where we met. But in real life she is a masseuse. Terri is like one of my other friends on my blogroll. She had a blog for awhile and did not tell me until sometime later. I do not know why? Why is this? Are you afraid to be associated with Leigh? I will seek you out, ya know. Confessions is a blog based on Terri 's self proclamation of being a craftaholic. She's a knitter, a crocheter and a bargain hunter. She also is the author of Bama Bargains where you can find freebies, coupons and tips on how to safe dough. I plan to post more about that soon. Now I know how she affords all those great yarns. You gotta check out the bargains. WOW!
Tune in next week to allow me to introduce you to some more of my "frans" from Bloggeritaville. Next week, I will have much to say (smile). Until then, go forth and visit some new blogs, make some new frans, and tell them that Leigh (of Bloggeritaville) sent ya!
