Friday Flashback

What a FUN Thrifty Thursday party we had yesterday! SUCH wonderful eye candy....I really could've posted every single link again. LOL But Here are a few featured participants in case you missed it. Which incidentally, if you missed it...you REALLY MISSED it! Soooooo many great contributors! My thanks to everyone! I hope you will visit yesterday's Thrifty Thursday post for a complete list of contributors.

Garden Berger...well, INGENIOUS....how I LOVE this handmade Bee Lamp!

West Furniture Revival had this entry, "a labor of love" in my favorite color....Turquoise.

I sooooo want to recreate that one!

And finally, this one from Quaint Oaks Blog....

I am so inspired by this one. Thanks to my friend Melissa...I now have MANY shutters and am looking for shutter projects. I did a similar version last year, and think now about incorporating one like this one as well. Thanks for the inspiration, Great Oaks.

Thanks to EVERYONE that linked up to Thrifty Thursday! It's not a party without you! YOU all  inspire me!

Do you have a favorite thrifty find? Or have you ever hit one of those yard sales you dream of. Well, my favorite memory of the perfect yard sale was one Saturday  when my mother and I hit a huge neighborhood yard sale at Ross Bridge (home of the Regions Charity Classic ). It was awesome! It was nice to just park and walk.

And the "stuff"....it was "the good stuff".
I got this gorgeous large buffet style antique mirror with beveled glass for just $8.00.

See the detailing? I think I will dry brush some white paint across it to highlight the relief.

I LOVED this original artwork. So much I bought it.

It came with a story. The lady selling it had lots of stories with things she sold. I love that. This was something she purchased on a trip to Buenos Aires with a boyfriend.
The boyfriend is now history.
The artwork reminds her of him.
And I have a piece of gorgeous original framed artwork with authenticity plaque for $5.00!
The artwork is called Buenos Aires Tango by Pablo Paez.

I also picked up this "Bless this House" glass vase with light for a buck.

I plan to use it in my Christmas display. Unless I come up with a place to put it between now and then.....One buck.
I also found Sister Sledge some more brand name clothing. She was happy about that. I declared it a successful weekend. How I wish I could do it all again this weekend. What a great sale! I only hope to come across one like that one again!

Tablescape Thursday
Now, onto to Tablescape Thursday, which is hosted by Susan of Between Naps on the Porch.

I also participate in Tablescape Thursday on Thursdays in addition to Thrifty Thursday.  The host of that fun carnival is the Hostess with the Mostess...Susan of Between Naps on the Backporch. That's no lie or exaggeration, each week I visit Susan's porch and just long to be a guest at any of her tablescapes...especially those held on the porch.

It's time for so many to be hitting the beaches (I just got back and am sooo behind...).
This makes me think of picnics on the beach. Dining with a view. And what a view it is!

(Taste of Home)
What is a tablescape without the food? I invite you to stop by my food blog, PLATES & PLACES, tomorrow for Foodie Friday!

Thanks to all of you for stopping by and participating in today's Thrifty Thursday. Please use Mr. Linky below to link up your blog.

I encourage you all to spread the love and visit the other thrifty Thursday participants, for that's what half the fun is. Aside from seeing a cool treasure it's making friends!
You can always visit me on FACEBOOK,

Happy Independence Day!

I am finally home from my beach vacation. I had some issues on Friday with the Friday flashback, something I struggled with all week, I had computer connection problems. Sometimes it would allow, others not, and on Thursday night it was impossible. I apologize and hope to bring you some of that tomorrow. In the meantime, Lets celebrate today!!!

Could I ever feel any more blessed than to be born into the great United States of America? I don't think so. I honestly thank God everyday for that blessing. I also pray for our soldiers that risk their lives each day, who making sacrifices to serve in the US military. And without fail, at any sporting event, when I hear the star spangled banner I well up with pride, tears flowing. I am so proud to be an American. I so love this country!!!

For me it goes even deeper. As I am one that loves genealogy and family history. Here is some useless information to you, but it is something that I am proud of...I am a proud descendant of Edward Rutledge, one of the signee's of the Declaration of Independence.

And if you are a fan of the movie, National Treasure, like my family is then you might find this interesting....

What's on the Back of the Declaration?
People who watched the popular movie "National Treasure" want to know. On the back, at the bottom, upside-down is simply written:
"Original Declaration of Independence dated 4th July 1776"
According to the National Archives, "While no one knows for certain who wrote it, it is known that early in its life, the large parchment document was rolled up for storage. So, it is likely that the notation was added simply as a label."
There are no hidden messages......

And so, there you go...some useless of useful information. That is up to you to decided.
Today I will celebrate with my family, we will be grilling and eating, exactly as we did last year at Canyon Mouth Park. We will take in the fireworks display. And most importantly, we will all count our US citizenship and Independence as a country a blessing.
As Americans, we are blessed to live in a free country that affords its citizens liberty and prosperity that people in other countries will never know. During this Independence Day weekend, please take a moment to honor America and all that we are. Also, remember our military servicemen and women who are protecting our freedom across the globe and fighting for those who do not have the liberty our great country provides. Let us never forget those who have sacrificed before us to protect the United States and the values we hold dear.

I wanted to wish everyone safe and happy celebrations today!
Peace to all.
In the meantime, while the coals are starting to warm the grill take a moment and see how you score....
