Beef "O" Brady's

Beef O'Bradys Family Sports Pub Restaurant is a "new" restaurant, soon to be a neighborhood staple. It's new to the Birmingham area, though it is a nationwide chain restaurant. The new "Beef's" is located at the new Target shopping center in Hoover, just off of highway 150 and Interstate 459, in what is called "The Grove" shopping center. Beef's is a bit hidden in the far east of the parking lot, across from Superior Bank.
Beef's has several tables and booths to accommodate a small crowd as well as a private party room and game room. The restaurant caters to the sports crowd by offering a nice size bar area with seating as well as several large screen TV's sprinkled throughout the place. Local sports memorabilia graces the walls, as well as photos from the area. Owner George McCluney welcomed us to the new establishment and shared his excitement for Beef O Grady's coming to the city of Hoover. It was an excitement that I also noted in his staff.  The hostess and wait staff were very accommodating and friendly, as they seated us immediately to a booth.
Tonight for dinner, it was just my husband, Tom and I and our youngest son, Jack. We ordered drinks while we pondered over the extensive menu  Jack and I both ordered the strawberry limeade, I cannot say that I have ever had a limeade as delicious. It certainly beat out any soda. I immediately imagined dropping into Beefs at the Groove for the Strawberry Limeade alone. It was THAT good.
We started with an appetizer, the Combo Appetizer to be specific. It arrived hot and was made up of delicious finger foods to much on while we waited for our main courses. In the basket were Crispy chicken fingers, mozzarella planks, onion rings and  cheesy quesadillas that my son really liked. The basket came with a trio of condiments to dip in: a honey mustard sauce, a marinara and my favorite, a horseradish-y sauce that was orange in color. I liked the flavor so much, I dipped everything in that one alone.

Beef O Brady's has many great "Beef" dishes, but what might surprise you is that they are well known for their wings. Wings are a true specialty at Beef’s®. The award-winning, jumbo-sized wings are always made fresh to order, then hand-tossed in one of 12 famous sauces.  My husband is a wing connoisseur. He ordered his hot wings in the "Nuclear" temperature. The waitress asked if he was certain he wanted them that hot. What she didn't know was my husband enjoys some heat. Actually allot of heat. When the hot wings were delivered to our table we could smell the spicy scent coming off of them. Tom ate a couple wings and declared, "They aren't too hot", but on the next wing I noticed sweat beading up on his cheeks. I knew he was a happy man. "The spice catches up to you the more you eat. These are pretty hot!"

There were a number of delicious looking sandwiches and soups on the menu, but I placed it safe and ordered the Asian Mandarin Chicken Salad. I had the choice of having it with grilled or fried teriyaki chicken, I chose the fried. The salad was a feast for the eyes with almond slivers, crispy wontons, sweet mandarin oranges served with a zesty Pan-Asian dressing. The flavor combination and crunch of the salad was like a fiesta for my palate. I will certainly order the salad again on a future visit!

Our son Jack was very pleased with the number of choices on the kids menu. Though Jack is not a picky eater,  if he were I don't think he would've had a hard time finding something to please him. The kids menu has allot of kid friendly selections: Mini Corn Dogs,Grilled Cheese, Chicken Nuggets, Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Macaroni & Cheese, Grilled Chicken Wrap, Grilled Chicken Salad and the kid favorite-Chicken Fingers. All kids meals come with a choice of side (mashed potato's, fries, broccoli, fruit, etc. as well as a child's cup of milk or soda).  Jack decided upon the mac and cheese and french fries. The mac and cheese tasted much like the "blue box", which I am certain carries a "Kid Approved" seal.
Beef"O"Brady's has that pub feel..."a place where everyone might know your name" but it is a great place for families, couples, friends and business people alike. It's a place that my family will enjoy dining at again.

Friday Rewind and a Bathroom Flasher

Hi! Thanks for dropping by today. I am glad you are here. Did you happen to have a chance to stop in on some of the wonderful Thrifty Thursday contributors from yesterday? There were so many treasures, great ideas, suggestions. I hope you will indulge me, I wanted to share a few of my favorite Thrifty Thursday post from yesterday.

Vintage Swampgirl really needs to open her own Etsy shop. Check out the dresses she made:

She is also churning out some hot jewelry on a budget. These bib necklaces are all the rage right now:

Stephanie Lynn of Under the Table and Dreaming shared the most amazing homemade Mother's Day gift.

I would LOVE this. And use this! And I am going to make this! Shephanie Lynn always has the best projects and ideas. Never at a loss.....Thanks Steph!

You know I love some catalog inspiration. So does the adorable Sarah of Someday Crafts.
 Love her.
She saw some gorgeous mirrors featured in catalogs, but the pricing.....just plain silly.

Ballard Designs Mirror: $139.00

Anthropologie Antiqued Mirrors: $695.00

"WHAT?" You ask. I know. It's not a infamous artist original piece. It's a mirror made to look fabulously aged and old. But at that price...
Well Sarah made it easy and cheap. (Smiles big)
Her {antiqued & awesome} Mirror: $15.50

And I like Sarah's version better.

Will you just look at Lisa of Pickles and Cheese flower pots....

This was just a few of her spraypainted pots made perfect. Click over to see them all. I got to tell you, I will be painting some flower pots this weekend (but only after I visit the Buck Creek Festival). Thanks Lisa. I am such a wannabe.
Jane at Finding Fabulous gave her outdoor table a redo with a can of cheap spray paint. You will not believe the before and after. Gorgeous done on dimes!

This is one of my favorite post. Amy of Money4ThisNot That Shared her daughter's prom dress with accessories on a budget. I have to tell you, as a photographer I am shocked, really SHOCKED at what parents spend on their child's prom dress. Something most kids wear once. I would have a hard time spending it on a wedding dress, much less a prom dress. I think of how far that money could go in not only my life....but most notably in the life of someone who really has a need. I mean a real need.
Amy called the bluff of parents everywhere, she outfitted her daughter in a gorgeous stylish  high style fashionable dress.....and the accessories to go with it for

(drum roll)

Twenty Four bucks.
Who knew $24.00 could look this glamorous!

And I end my Thrifty Thursday recap with that. Amy, you are AMAZING!
Click on Amy's blog and she'll show you HOW she did it.
And Amy....your daughter...........GORGEOUS. And what a precious prom couple.

PS Amy's daughter is getting double wear out of this dress. (Standing "O")

Before I go and enjoy a weekend at my hometown's BUCK CREEK FESTIVAL
I want to share something on todays post ....

My friend High Mae and I hit some garage sales last weekend. I love to luck up on those nieghborhood garage sales. Lots of buys, just park the car and walk. Greystone was where we found ourselves last week.  I again lucked up on some gently worn brand name clothes for my tween. But my find of the week came from the thrift store. It was this antique mirror.

It looks like the trim is ironstone, as are the flowers on the side.

It's not in perfect condition, far from it...but to me it's gorgeous!

Just look at the little ball feet!

It was a bargain at $2.88. I am going to hang it with a mirror grouping that I am mapping out in my house. I will share the mirror gallery with you when I get it up on my wall.

Pottery Barn Inspiration, Dollar General Pillows

I have a post today that is a bit of a mixed bag of things I wanted to share with you.
Recently at Pottery Barn I spotted some pillows I thought were very classic in design.

This pretty pillow below was priced at $49.00

The next group of PB pillows (below) with the big buttons was $29. per pillow.

The pillows also looked familiar to some I had found at Dollar General and Old Time Pottery, each for $5 and less. I did splurge on the numbered PB pillow, #3, I have three children and had to have it. But...currently it is on clearance at Pottery Barn onlinewebsite! You can save on that one too.
(Click to enlarge pillow to see my price comparisons)

Pillows isn't the only thing I found at Dollar General, I found myself and my son J Smooth some cute "boat shoes". The white mules are mine. Each set $7.00!

Yesterday I did a post about displays using glass jars, vases and urns.
Dawn of Cottage State of Mind was so sweet and shared with me her glass jar vignette. It's gorgeous! Take a look.....

She filled her glass vase with sand, shells, some drift wood...and her special touch.....a vintage coastal postcard.
Gorgeous! Dawn, Thank you for sharing your display. It's beautiful!
