The unique building on historic Morris Avenue provides a glimpse into Alabama life at the turn of the 20th century!
I was so excited to find that my friend had never been and was anxious to introduce her to one of Birmingham's best kept secrets.
For me it is a place that holds special memories of me being a little girl, riding downtown with my mother and Uncle Freddy for some of those warm peanuts. It was our tradition to go there anytime my Uncle Freddy came into town for a visit.
I recall mother parking on the street out front and as soon as we opened the car door, the smell of roasted peanuts enveloped the street and lured us inside.
Although the store in and of itself is worth the trip, located in an historic building. The same place that they have been roasting peanuts for over 100 years.
In recent years, they have also added boiled peanuts to the menu as well.
Cooked Cajun style or regular.
The PD offer a variety of great peanut flavors - fresh roasted, salted and cajun. - packed for shipping in clear plastic bags to insure freshness. And storefront they come in paper sacks, just as they did so long ago.
Using antique roasters, and the time honored method of not adding oils or preservatives, the Peanut Depot has been doing just that for over 100 years!
The Peanut Depot is located on historic Morris Avenue in downtown Birmingham, Alabama.

And enjoy!
And those places always smell so good. Reminds of the peanut shop downtown Nashville - wonder if they are still there.
